THE HAMMER QUARTZ MILL. [PATENT APPLIED FOR.} This Machine Is now complete and ready for saic. In constructing it, our alm has becn to produce a light, cheap and economical Crusher—one adapted to mining on a sinali ag well ag on a lurge scale. The elementary principle on whieh it operates is that of the stamp—the only one really relinble and economical. But the stainp has many serious disadvantages, ainong which are its great weight and small velocity; the great power required to run it; diffiewty in feeding properly; imperfeet discharge, and the neeesslty of crushing wet, or the annoyance Irom dust in erushing dry. All these difficultles are obviated in our machine, and tho percusslve blow of the slamp retained, with the fiurther advantage of its belng a drawing or grinding one. We give to our hammers such absolute or relative weight and veloclty as we choosc—just such as to effect their purpose and no more—thus securlug the qualltles of the natnral hammer blow. Tho feed is self-ndjusting and uniform, and as fast as the ore reaches the required degree of fincness (which depends upon the fineness of the screen or sieve used), it is Instantly discharged, so that there is no packing of the ore under the hammers. The mill ernshes dry, with no more dust than that incident to fecdlug, whieh is trifting. Asthe only support of the mortar is a single post sct into tbe ground, the machine can be put in place at slight expense, The size now being built weighs about 1,800 ponnds complete; the heaviest piece not welghing over 275 pounds. It is driven by half a horse-power, and erushes from three to ten tong per day of twenty-four hours per day, accordlug to the characler of the rock and tho fineness to which it is redneed. PRICE,....... pnonanond $800, Larger ones will be furnished if desired. The Amalgainator is siiuplo in its construction, consisting of a Anortub constructed of wood nnd adapted to cithrr a Stoue or Iron bottom. Opposite cach other, and on the inside ot the mb. are two flanges, trom two to four Inches broad, reaching from the top to near the bottom, with room tor the mullers to passunder. These flanges are for the purpose of preveutiug the pulp trom forming a cirenlar current, and together with a number of wings placed like a serew-propeller on the muller-shaft, force a current continuaily on the quicksllver at the bottom and under the grinding surface ot the mullers. This peenliarity ot propellerserew and side wings, In coinbinatlou with a deep tub, are what tbe Ong elia clahn ns new and for which a patent has been applied for. The undersigned are now manutacturing threo different sizes of this inachine, and tho attention of the public is respectfully calied to the following results obtained, froin the worklng of Reese River roci, by this amalgamator, and assayed by Miller & Lunbanm, ut Austin, Nevada: No. Fino Fine Assa. +250 913° Assn; 950 Assa. pa) 4% Assay fo i) Assia. 286 0 Assay Water Rock 966

Coustrucied on principles whicb combine Scientific KNowcence with Practica, EXPERIENCE, these Pans extract more gold and silver from their ores than any others in use, as n few hours trial will d rate. Mill NOTICE TO MINERS. NEW QUARTZ MILL. HE ATTENTION OF ALL ENOAOED IN MINING IS ealled to Fauchery’s unrivaled Mining Machines, conalstIng of hls cciebrated Turbine Water Wheel, which took tho Virst Premlum at the Mechanics’ Fair at San Francisco for 1864; his Crocodile Qnartz Crusbor; his Pulyerizer; and his Improved Frelberg Amalgamating Barrel; altogether forming the inost complete and effective Quartz Reducing and Amalgamating Milt now inuse. This mill can_be put up at less cost, run with icss power, and accomplish more work, than any other now in use. B. Fauchery and F. Genard Tfavlng establisbed a Quartz Mill and Metallurgleal Works, lure now prepared to crush, roast, amalgamate, assort, eupelate, and glve correct analysis of ores. Weare also prepared togtve our attention to the building and eonstructing ot Quartz Mills and Furnaces, and glye directlons for working Mincs; and also to instruct Oe in all branches apertalning to Mining Works, at No. 23 Fremont street, near Market, Railroad Foundry building. EF, GENARD, HK. FAUCHERY, Metallurgist. Englueer, WM. BRUCKNER’S Eurnace for Roasting Ores. Now in Operation at 416 Market street, This Furnace, which is portable, and can be carried on mulcbaek, undertakes to roast without employ ine any labor whutever for tho operation of stirring, which is accomplished by machinery that may be driven by steam or any other motor. It consists ot an iron cylinder, which, belug suspended by chains, in rotatlIng mixes and stirs the ore, hy an Internal apparatus, quicker and more perfeotly than ean be done in any other furnace hitherto known in metallurgy. It can he applied to any kind of ore, and the rapldity and perfectedness of its operation, the great caulig in fuel, and the cntlre saan ot the labor usually required for stirring the ore, together with tho small! cost of coustructing lt, renders this furnace a most Economle:l and Practical Inventlon, The Furnace may be had of two sizes—one being nine feet In length and holding fourteen hundred pounds, and the other six feet In length, and holding clght hnndred pounds. One orse qo Nee ls required to drive the machlnery of the larger sized furnace, and three-fourths of a horse-power for the smaller size. Parties wishing to erect such furnaces will please communicate to W. BRUCKNER, 5yI0 No. 416 Market street, San Francisco. BLAKE'S QUARTZ BREAKER Is now extensively used for breaking hard masses of Quartz or Ores To a size sultable for stamps. BELDEN, W. T. Garratt, H. P. WAKELER, Q. Gori, Gxo. Jounson, Cc. M. Rapeirr. This Premium Amalgamator was placed on trial, at the Mechanics’ Pavlliou, with the Varney, Wheeler & Randall, and Hepburn & Peterson Pan, each working eigbt hundred pounds of crushed rock. This Unrivaled Amalgamator possesses many advantages over all others now in use. lst. It is anor of duing double the amount of work of the ordinary Pans, at a saving Of more than one-half of the pow er. gd. It reduces the pulp finer, thereby producing a better result, . It reqnires less quicksilverby one-half at a charge, whilst the loss by trituratlon is comparatlvely nothing, 4th. As anu Amalgamator of gold contained in sulphurets ag also tor very fine or flour gold, it has no cqual. , Sth. Tbis Amalgamator involves no complleated machinery, and is less liable to get outof order than any of the VARNEYW’S PATENT AMALGAMATOR. These Machines Stand Unrivaled. For rapidly pulverizing and amalgamating ores, they have noequal. No effort hus been, or will be, spared to have them constructed In the most perfect manner, and of the great number now in operon not ono has ever recuined repairs. The constant and Increasing demand for them is sutticient evidence ot thelr merits, They are constructed so asto apply steam directly into the pulp, or with steam bottoms, as desired. This Amalgamator Operates aa Follows: The pan being filled, the inotion of the mnller forces the pulp to the center, where itis drawn down throngh the aperture aud between the grinding surfaces. Thence it is thrown to the periphery into the quicksilver. Tho curved plates again draw it to the center, where it passes down, and to the ctreumference as before. Thus itis constantly assing in a regular flow betwcen the grinding surfaces and » ae the quicksilver, until the ore is reduced to an impaipable powder, and the metal amalgamated. Setlers made on the same prinelple excel ali others.— They bring the pulp so eonstantiy and perfectly in eontact with quicksllver, t at the particles are rapidly and completely absorbed. Mill men are invited to examine these pans and sotlers for themselves, at the PACIFIC FOUNDRY, Iy19 San Franelsco. Wepburn & Peterson’s AMALGAMATOR. HE SUBSCRIBERS WOULD CALL THE ATTENTION ot the Mining Publle to their Reducer and [Amaiga. miator, and also to their Separator for reducing and separatbig the wiucral from Gold and Sliver Ores, Manufactured and exhibited attho Vulcan Iron Works, Nos 137 and 139 First street, San Francisco. These machines secure to the Miner a more Expedltlous and Perfect Reduction and Amalgamation, a less Mablllty to accident and delay, and a greater amount ef useful effect In proportion tothe power employed to keep them in operatlou than any otlier machine now iu uso for producing slmi-arregults. This fact is attested to by their general adoption and preference at all tho principal Reduction Works in Ne‘errltory ; among which may be mentioned the Oonld & Curry Mill, the Silver State Reduction Works, Zeph * ans. .
