The Alining and Scientific Press,
going the rounds of the Culifornia press to the
effect thnt about 250 patents have bcen
grauted fur California iaventions during the
lost two ard o half years. ‘Tho fuct is that
not more than 250 applications Inve been
made for tho eatire Pacifie coast during the
tinio mentioned. Of thes, probably 150 hnvo
thie for hecn allowed. Of tho entire number
of rpplications, 0 majority have bren mude
through the Mixixa axp Sciestiric Press
Patext Acexcy. Of the npplicutions madc
through this office not more than one in twelve
havo been rejected ; while taking all the Stntes
of the Union, tice proportion of rejections is
fully onc in fonr, ns may be seen from the annual Patcut Offico Reports. This fact proves
one of two thinys, either that thise agency is
remorknbly successful us solicitors, or that the
javenturs on the Pacific Coast are vastly superior to tlicir brethren, generally, throughout
the Union, in the originality of their mechanical ideas. We are willing to divido the honors ;
nnd attribute our superior success mainly to
the fact that our business is usually done personally with our customers; which modc
of doing pateat busincss gives California
inveutore nn immense ndvantage over those at
the Kast who do their business with the New
York ogeucies, throngl correspondcnce.
