PRESCOTT & SCHEIDEL,
Marysville Foundry.
I3v10-310, March 3ist, 1865.
This Machine ls now complete and ready for salo. In
constructing It, our aim has becn to produce a tight, choap
and economical Crushcr—one adapted to mining on a small
ns well as on a large scale.
The elementary principle on which it opcrates Is that of
the stamp—the only one really reliable and economical.
But the stamp has many serious disudvantages, smoug
which are itsgreat welght and small velocity; the great
power required to run it; difficulty In feeding properly;
hnperfect discharge, and the necessity of crushing wel,
or the annoyance from itust in crushing ry.
All these difienitics are obviated in our machIne, and
the pereusslve blow of the stamp retuined, with the further advantage of Its belng a drawlug or grinding one.
We give to onr hammers such absolute or relative welght
and vclocity as we ehoose—just such aslo effect thelr purpose and no more—thus securing the qualities of the natural hammer blow.
The feed Is scil-adjusting_and uniform, ard as fast as Ihe
ore reaches the required degree of flicness Qvhich depends
upon the flneness of the screen or sicve used), it is instantly
discharged, so that there is 10 packing of the ore under the
hammers.
The will crushes dry, with no more dust than that Incident to fecdIng, which is Irifling.
As the only support of the mortarisa siugle post set into
ihe ground, the machine can be put in place at slight expense.
The size now belug built weighs about 1,800: pounds complete; the heavlesI plece not welghing over 275 ronnds. It
is dylyen by Nalf a horse-power, and erushes from three to
ten tons per day of twenty-four hours per day, according to
the eharacter of the rock and the fineness to whleli it is
reduced.

These Machines Stand Unrivnoled.
For rapldly putverlzing and amalgamaling ores, they
have nocqnal. No effort has been, at will be, xpared to
have them constructed in the most perfect manner, and of
the great number now In operntlon, not one has ever retired repairs. The constant and increasing demand for
them is suliclent cyldenec o¥ thicir merits.
They sre constructed so asta apply steam directly Into
the pulp, or with steain bottoms, as desired,
This Amalgamator Operates 23 Followa:
The pan being filled, the .mothm of theinnller forces the
pulp to the cenier, where it ls drnwn down throngh the aperture and.between the grinding surtaces. Thence it is
thrown to the periphery hito the quicksilver. The curved
yates again draw it to the eenter, where it parses down,
und to the clrenmference as before. ‘Thus it is constantly
passing Ina regular tlow between the grinding surtnces nnd
to the quiches Weer, until the ore is reduced to un hmpalpable powder, and the metal amalgnmated.
Setlers made on the same princigle excel all others.—
They bring the pulp so constautiy and pertectly in contact
with quicksilver, that the particles are rapidly and completely absorbed.
