Sommer Frutrs—The following facts are worth reading and rememhering, espeeially at the present season of the year: “ Acids proniote the separation of hile from the hlood, whieh is then passed from the system, thus preventing levers, the prevailing disease of summer. All fevers are “ bilious,” that is, the bile isin the hlood. Whatever is antagonistic of fever is cooling. It isa common saying that fruits are “ cooling,” and also herries of every description. It is heeause the acidity which they eontnin aids in separating the hile from the blood, that it aids in purifying the blood. Hence the great yearning for greens, and lettuce, and salads in the early spring, these heing eaten with vinegar; hence, also the tnste for something sour, for lemonade on an attack of fever. But this heing the case, it is easy to see we nullify the good effects of fruits and betries, in proportion as we eat them with sugar, or even sweet milk or cream. them in their natural state, fresh, ripe, perfect, it is alniost impussible to eat too many, to eat enough to hurt us, especially if we eat them alone, uot takivg any liquid with them whntever.” If we eat THE FIPTIT INDUSTRIAL FAIR OF THE MECHANICS’ INSTITUTE OF SAN FRANCISCO, To be Held in the Mechanics’ Institute Pavilion ia August, 1865.
