March lst, 1865.
This Machine Is now-complicte and ready for sale. In
eonstructing It, our aim has been to produce a llght, cheap
and economleal Crusher—one adapted to mitlng on a small
a5 well as on a large scale.
Tlic elementary principle on whleh it operates Is that of
the stamp—the only one really reliable and economical.
Buf the stamp has many scrians dlsadvantages, among
which are Its great welght and small velocity; the great
power required to rnn It; difficulty In feeding properly;
imperfeet discharge, and the neeessity of crushing wet,
or the annoyance from dust in crushing dry.
All these diftienltles are ohvlated in our machine, and
the percussive blow of the slamp retdlned, with the further advantage of its being a drawing or grinding one.
We give to our hammers sneh absolute or relative weight
and velocity as we choose—just sneh as to elfeet their purpose and no more—Ihus securing the qualities of the natural hammer blow,
The feed Is self-adjusting and uniform, and as fast as the
ore reaches the required degree of fineness Gvhieh depends
upon the fineness of the serecn or sieve used), it is instantly
discharged, so that there is no packiug of the ore under the
hammers.
The mill crushes dry, with no more dust than that ineldent to feeding, which is trifling.
As the only snpport of the mortar isa single post set Into
the ground, the machine can be put in placo at slight expense.
The size now belng built weighs about 1,800 pounds compiete; the heaviest piece not welghIng over 275 rounds. It
is driven by half a horse-power, and ernshes from three to
ten tons per day of twenty-four hours per day, according to
the character of the rock and the fineness to whlch It is
reduced.

PATENT AMALGAMATOR.
These Machines Stand Unrivaled,
For rapidly pulverizing and amalganiallng ores, they
have noecquul. Noctfort hus been or willbe, spared lo
Inve them constrneted In the most perfect mnnner, and of
the wreat number now In opervtion, not one has ever re~
ulred repairs. The constant and increasing demand lor
them is sutticient evidence ot their merits.
They are coustrneted so asto apply steam direetly into
the pulp, or with steam bottums, as desired.
This Amalgamator Operates as Follows?
The pan belng filled, the motlon of the muller forees the
pulp to the center, where it lx drawn down throngh the aperture and between the grinding surfaces. Thenee It is
thrown to ttre ener Into the quileksliver. The eurved
plates again drnw it to the eenter, where It passes down,
and to the circumference as belore. Thus It is coustantly
assing In a regulur How between the grinding surlaces und
hito the quicksilver, until the ore is reduced to an impalpable powder, and the metal amalgamated.
Setlers made on the same principle exeel all others.—
ane bring the pulp so constantly and perfectly In contact
with quicksilver, that the particles sre rapidly and completely absorbed.
