A letter to the Arizona Miner, of date Feb.
hth, 1866, speaks of the opening of a gold
ledgs one mile from Port Brian, 83 followe:
“Thus far they have stripped the ledge a diatance of nbout twenty yards, and to the depth
of six feet, and incredible as it may seem, have
scarcely Jonnd a piece of ruck that does not
exhibit gold to the naked’ eye, and the must
ol it beans very strong indications of silver, ss
cften seen by the writer in Nevada. Ou the
aurface the ledge has on oniform width of sixtec inches, and at the depth of six feet wid6u3 out to twenty-three inches; is well cased
in wall rock on either side, standing almoat
perpendicular. At the eastern end of the
ledge they have taken up a ,tine spring of
fvater, which flows the year round from nine
to twenty inches ‘of water. '‘They: also have
-wood in greit abundance. So far they:have
taken out about one ton of rock. They conserolate putting up an arastra at once.’
