A large number of men are employed in this mine, and it is the inteution of the eompany to erect a mill the present season.”..The San Andreas Register says: “There are several placer claims near San Antonio Camp in this county, which are paying very good wages. Frauk Caneo & Co. have a very good elaim about a quarter of a mile ahove, on whieh they have sunk a shaft 90 feet, and found pay dirt nearly all the way down, hey are now drifting et the bottom of the shaft. Prospeets were good— drift reached 2503¢ leet—quantity of oil increasing. Water power is to be applied . Depth reached in the Irwin, Davis, 730 feet. . The engiue at the Jeffrey well is at work. The Allen & Satter eompany at MecNatt’'s Guleh, expect to commence work soon. The ore is improving in quality. The vein is situated near Herron’s raneh, and is known as the Green Dozier eopper vein. Nevada Couuty— The Gazette has these items: Three tunnels have been run-at the Eureka mine; one of 30 ‘feet, one ‘of 100 feet and one of 75 feet. Froin the last mentioned. whieh is several hundred feet lower on the ledge than the others, very rieh rock is now being teken. An offer of $50,000 for the claim on ‘Tuesday of last week, was rejected .. Weare informed that very fich rock was struck in the Federal Loan _quertz ledge yesterday. ‘This ledge’is situated in the Leeompton distriet, a mile anda half above the Orieutal mill ..Five hundred and ten kegs n! powder were used: in a single blast the other day, at the hydraulie claims of the -Ameriean company, on Manzanita Hill, near North San Juan. NEVADA. Virginia--‘The Gold Hill Wevs reports a strike nf very rich silver ore in the Crown Point mine at that pleee. One specimen is degeribed as weighing thirty pounds, which hod in the center an ele~ gant erystallized eave, the size of a large tea cup, across the outer edges of which were several thick strands of silver wire, cold spengled -and bright specks of pnre silver, beside one or two bunches of tangled wire silver. Of anuther speeimen the News says: “The largest and, proportionate to its size, the richest mass of silver ore ever taken out of any eilver inine here, was brought to the surface at about, four (e) ‘clock yeaterday afternoou, teken out of the same ‘ drift.’ Its weight is about 500 ponnds. It consists entirely of black silver solphorets. An assay showed n yield at the rate of $3,000 per ton.” The Enterprise speaks of 2 302 ounce hriek from the MeGregor ledge, Clan Alpine distriet, owned hy a New York company.
