‘Tne Caspir Fisa is one of the most curious
meinbers of the finny tribe. It ts cauglit on
the coast of British Columbia, where it is extreinely common, and proves very useful to the
natives. Some idea of ite character and value
may be gleaned from the fact that they use it
as ao lamp, the light given being very considerable. The fish, when dried, bas a piece of
rash pith, or strip from the inner bork of the
cypress tree, drawn through it to serve ag a
wick, a loug needle, made of hard wood, being
used for the purpose; it is then lighted, and
buros stealily until consuied. It is said that
one cua read comfortably by its light.
Mixing Ixcorronartioxs Fon 1865.—Nighty
new gald, silver and copper toluiog contpanies
were incorpurated ‘luring the past year, representing a capital of at least thirty utillions of
dollars. Of petroleam vil companies, eightyseven were incorporated, representing a capital
of sixty five millious—io all, not tess than
ninety-five millions of dollurs contributed to
the capital of the Stute during the yenr 1865—
provided said capitul is genuiae. ‘Theo cotton
companies were ulso orgunized.
Ifow long Eve, the first woman, lived, we do
not know. tis s curious fact that, in sacred
history, the age, death, nod burial of only one
won, Sarah, the wife of Abruham, is distinctly noted. Wontun’s nge, ever since, nppears aot to have been a subject fur history or
discussion.
Wuesever you find a great deal of gratitude

would be as much generosity if he were a rich
one.
