volume, very convenient. It seems to add to . .
the value of each number, and makee it more
of an object to preserve them. A volnme of
newspapers, bound together without coptaining ap index, always reminds me of a storehouse with a faulty lock ; when we wish to obtain an article, valuable time is wasted before
we can get at it. I think every volume of
journals worth preserving, ehould contain an
index.”
Tue Latrope Mines.—T wo thousand tons
of copper ore were shipped from Latrobe dur
ing the six months ending January Ist. It is
expected that the quantity will be considerably
increased in the next six months, The mines
are close to the Placerville and Sacramento
Valiey Railroad.
Ray. Dr. Stone, of Boston, having accepted
a call from the First Congregational Society
in this city, will, we are informed, leave the
East on the 11th day of February, and may
arrive lere so as to preach to his pew eociety
on the 4th of March.
