Epipemre Oxorers ; Its Modes of Treatment , Their Re-'
spective Results ; with Directions for Provention ; and
what to do in Cases of Sudden Emergency. By Joho
F. Geary, M, D., San Franciseo: H. H. Bancroft & Co.,
1866.
The ahove is a pamphlet of fifty-four pages,
designed for popular information with regard . .
to the medical treatment of «cholera. The
author helongs to the homeopathic, or ‘ New
School of Medicine,” and the chief portion of
the work is devoted to a popular review of the
different modes of treatment adopted severally
hy the allopathic and homezopathic practitioners. The concluding pages are devoted to a
‘consideration of the pnhlic sanitary measures
necessary to he taken in view of the approach
of epidemic cholera; the modes of prevention,
and what to do in cases of sndden emergency.
Of course the remarks nuder these several
heads are made from a homceopathic stand-point,
and will prove of especial interest to all such
as prefer that mode of practice.
A TREATISE, on Sue Boripixe : A Plain Statement of the
‘Process of Delineating the Lines of a ‘Vessel on-n Floor,
The ahove is the title of a pamphlet of
twenty-four pages, with several illustrations,
designéd to be placed he fore young ship-builders,
asa plain statemént of the, process of ship
drafting. The author, William ‘Laister, who
has heen @ practical ship-huilder in this city,
and on this coast since 1852, has prepared this
work for the especial benefit of those who have
not had an opportunity of consulting more
elaborate works upon the snhject, and which,
he thinks, as a general thing, are calenlated
to perplex rather than instruct, or, at least, are
of hut little use to those who have-not already
attained a preliminary knowledge of the husi.
ness. The aim of the present writer has heen .
to write a hook on ship-drafting which any
shipwright can understand ;‘andwhich, whatever may he its-:merits or demerits, will no
doubt be appreciated at-its true value hy }those for whom it has heen prepared.
