THE EXCELSIOR
GRINDER AND AMALGAMATOR,
In the engraving herewith presented, A represents the Rim of the

Openings,
The relative grinding eapacitios of “The Exeelsior” Grinder
and Amalgamator, of the Flat Bottomed Pan, and of the Conical:
Pan when properly constructed, are respectively 177, 118 and 182.
That is, the respeetive mullers being of the same diameter,
same weight, same hardness, and running at the same velocity
“The Excelsior Grinder and Amalgamator” will reduee one bundred and seventy-seven tons of ore, the Flat Bottomed Pan one
hundred and eigbteen tons, and the Conical Pan one hundred and
thirty-two tons to the same degree of fineness in the same time.
The wear to the Sboes and Dies at their grinding surfacesin the
Exeelsior Grinder and Amalganiator, is perfectly uniform, thus
seeuring evenness of reduction to tbe pulp, as well as steadiness
Uniform wear of tbe grinding plates
has been attained in no other than tbat of the Tractory form—nor
of motion to tbe muller.
can it be.
Another property of exeellenee in this machine is that tbe metal
‘or substance to be amalgamated passes direct from the grinding
surfaces into the quicksilver; thus exeluding the possibility of its
becoming coated witb any foreign substanees, after baving been
burnished. It is truthfully said “tbat the Tractory-formed Pan
‘as a Grinder bas no equal, and as an Amalgamator no superior,”
As a whole, it is far superior to any other pan in use.

PATENT AMALGAMATOR.
These Machines Stand Unrivaled,
For rapidly pulverizing and amalgamating eres, they

Tbey are constructed se as#o apply stcam dlreetly into
, the pulp, or with steam bottoms, as desired.
This Amalgamator Operates as Follows:
, The pan belng filied, the motion of the muller forces the
‘pnip to the center, where itis drawn down throngh tho ie
értiro and between the grindlug surfaces. Theuee ‘it Is
‘thrown to the poriphery into the quicksilver. The curved
plates again draw it to.the center, wherc it passes down,
Gnd to the ecivenmference as before. Thus itis constantly
passing in a regular flow between the grinding surfaces and
nto the quicksliver, until ihe ore is veduecd to an impalpable powder, aud the metal amalxamated.
* Setlers made on the same principle cxee! all others.—
They bring the pulp so constantiy and perfectly In contaet
