There is a elight augmcatation of deposit halances in some of the banks, and we hear of less stringency in mavy quarters, althongh tbe demand continues active upon prime paper and other first-class securities; at 1@114 # cent. per month. Little or no difficulty is experienced in mercantile circles in obtaining all the facilities required for legitimate husineee purposes, and the merchants geuerally are iu a eound and healtby condition. ‘Tbere is coasiderable doing in Real Estute, and an nousually large number of first-class improvements are vigorously noder way ia different portions of the city. For these porposes money is readily obtaiuable at low rates of interest. Receipts of Treasure from tbe interior are about up to the usaal average, and during the.current month amounted to some $4,000,000. Tbe Sub-Treasurer, in this city, shipped Hast, on Government account, $500,000, by the steamer St. Louis, making av aggregate of $8,500,000 thus far since January Ist. Bullion is meeting with rather more inquiry,aad it is helieved that important shipments of Silver Bars will be mnde to China hy the two vessels now loading at this port. Gold Bars are a shade bettcr at 840@845, and Silver is quotable at about 112 % cent. discount for round lots. Currency Bills on the Atlantic cities are offered at 38@39 @ cent. premium on Gold. Steam Navigation Compaay sold at 7214 cent., or $725 FP ehare of $1,000, aad closed yesterday ot 71 {8 ct. bid, National Iusurauce Company comianded $76.50 $ shore ; at the close we quote it at $76, hid. We quote San Francisco Gas Company at $140; Spriug Valley Water Company at $62; and State Telegraph at $32. At a meeting of the stockholdere of the Colifornia Steam Navigvtion Company, held last Saturday, it was decided by an informal vote —no quorum being present—not to increase the stock of said company from $2,500,000 to $5,000,000. Unanimity prevailed in regard to re-issuiag the shares at a $100 iastead of $1,000 as at present. This will place tbe shares much more advantageously ia the market, allowing persons of limited means to invest. We note the formation and incorporation of the Builders’ Insnrance Company with a capital of $50,000, divided into 500 shares of $100 each. The husiness of this Company will he carried on in connection with the California Building and Loan Socicty. Thomas Mooney, Nathaniel Page, and others, are the incorporators. This makes the eleveath on tbe list of ome iasurance compauies now iu existence in this city. Tbe Mining Shure Market hus continued in a very invctive condition during the period under revicw. ‘T’his flut aud dormant state of tbe market bos prevailed for a month or more past, and recent developments ia the great, Comstock lode have not, to any degree, added buoyancy to the inarket. Operations are steadily and vigorously prosecuted on vearly all claims now quoted in the Board, and an improvement, it is hoped, will manifest itself before many weeks. Lack of accommodations in the money market may, to,a great extent, be cited as a cause for restricted speculative transactions; and, as for permanent investment in this class of securities, the market may be said to he hare. The sales in the Board, witb few exceptions, are now confined to shares of companies locuted on the Comstock vein. Tbe firmness witb which Hale & Norcross is beld is a sure indication of tbe usual eteady yield of this mine. No sales have been made in tbe Board duriag the past month. We quote it at $1,800, asked. Savage opened ut $1,110@1,128, buyer 30, dealjned to, $1,105, and held yesterday at $1,115. ‘his mine has not been worked to its full capocity for some time past, partly on account of the ecarcity of teams to remove the metal and the crowded state of the compaay’s ore houses. Little ore has been extracted from the richest breasts. The 4th and 5th stations of this mine bave improved materially during the week ending Sept. 22d, producing more and a better quality of ore. The yield from the soutb brenst of the Curtis shaft is steadily increasing. In the niuth drift of the Curtis shaft ore of a mediam quality, which is improving daily, was reached at a distance of 200 feet south from the south face of the sixtb station. During the week ending Sept. 22d, 824 tons of ore were extracted, the estimate valne of which ig given at $30.440. The estimated profits stated ia our last issue were the result of only four days’ work. Crown Point remains quiet, changing hands at $870@900, seller 3, and at the close is quoted at $875. Good ore has been found in the 400 foot station—lower level—with fair prospecte of an improvement in the quality by further developments. ‘Ihe estimated yield of bullion for the present moath muy he stated at ahont $110,000. Tbe roceipts of builiou to the 25th, have been $72,000. During the week eading Sept. 23d, 642 tone of second-class, and 5 tons first-class ore have been raised from the mine. Gould & Curry shows a slight improvement, without any epecial inquiry ; only a few feet were sold during the past week, opening at $600, tbea selling at $610, and closing at $610, nsked. he search after increased deposits of ore hns not, up to this time, proved successful; otherwise the niue remains in good condition. Yellow Jacket hus been largely dealt ia during the past week, opening at $700, dropping to $635, rallying to $672.50, and closing yesterday at $682. During tho week ending Sept. 24th, somo 6 toue of firstclass, and 1,854 tons of second-class ore bave been oxtracted from ae ane, and the total yield of bullion for this period exceeded $61,500. The work on the new ehoft, in all the various etatione, has been ngain resumed, nad so lor no important developiwents have been made. In drifting vortb on tbe Ist station, a narrow helt of quartz, some 18 jaches wide, bas been encountered. This 1s considered a fayornble indication of obtaining ore as further progress ie made. During the yee ending Sept. 22d, some 627 tons of ore were shipped to Custom ills. Imperial improved a little during the week, opening at $81@80, advancing to $84, and selling yesterday at $82. During the firet three weeks of the present montb, eame $40,000 in hullion havo been received. ‘Tbe mines of this company. we ore informed, are being well devcloped—some estimate the amount of ore in sight in the several stations to he sufficient to supply their present reduction capacity for eigbteeu months to come. We quote San Francisco Gas Company at $140; Spriug Valley Water Company at $62; and State Telegraph at $32. At a meeting of the stockholdere of the Colifornia Steam Navigvtion Company, held last Saturday, it was decided by an informal vote —no quorum being present—not to increase the stock of said company from $2,500,000 to $5,000,000. Unanimity prevailed in regard to re-issuiag the shares at a $100 iastead of $1,000 as at present. This will place tbe shares much more advantageously ia the market, allowing persons of limited means to invest. We note the formation and incorporation of the Builders’ Insnrance Company with a capital of $50,000, divided into 500 shares of $100 each. The husiness of this Company will he carried on in connection with the California Building and Loan Socicty. Thomas Mooney, Nathaniel Page, and others, are the incorporators. Tbe Mining Shure Market hus continued in a very invctive condition during the period under revicw. ‘T’his flut aud dormant state of tbe market bos prevailed for a month or more past, and recent developments ia the great, Comstock lode have not, to any degree, added buoyancy to the inarket. Operations are steadily and vigorously prosecuted on vearly all claims now quoted in the Board, and an improvement, it is hoped, will manifest itself before many weeks. Lack of accommodations in the money market may, to,a great extent, be cited as a cause for restricted speculative transactions; and, as for permanent investment in this class of securities, the market may be said to he hare. The sales in the Board, witb few exceptions, are now confined to shares of companies locuted on the Comstock vein. Tbe firmness witb which Hale & Norcross is beld is a sure indication of tbe usual eteady yield of this mine. No sales have been made in tbe Board duriag the past month. We quote it at $1,800, asked. Little ore has been extracted from the richest breasts. The 4th and 5th stations of this mine bave improved materially during the week ending Sept. 22d, producing more and a better quality of ore. The yield from the soutb brenst of the Curtis shaft is steadily increasing. In the niuth drift of the Curtis shaft ore of a mediam quality, which is improving daily, was reached at a distance of 200 feet south from the south face of the sixtb station. During the week ending Sept. 22d, 824 tons of ore were extracted, the estimate valne of which ig given at $30.440. The estimated profits stated ia our last issue were the result of only four days’ work. Crown Point remains quiet, changing hands at $870@900, seller 3, and at the close is quoted at $875. Good ore has been found in the 400 foot station—lower level—with fair prospecte of an improvement in the quality by further developments. ‘Ihe estimated yield of bullion for the present moath muy he stated at ahont $110,000.
