The relative grinding capacities of “The Excel
and Amalgamator, of the Flat Bottomed Pan, and of the Conical
Pan when properly constructed, are respectively 177, 118 and 1382.
That is, ihe respective mullers being of tbe sa
same weight, same hardness, and running at the same velocity
“The Excelsior Grinder and Amalgamator” will reduce one hundred and seventy-seven tons of ore, the Flat Bottomed Pan one
hundred and eighteen tons, and the Conical Pan one hundred and
thirty-two tons to the same degree of fineness in the
The wear to the Shoes and Dies at their grinding surfaces in the
Excelsior Grinder and Amalgamator, is perfectly uniform, thus
‘securing evenness of reduction to the pulp, as well as steadiness
Uniform wear of the grinding plates

Another property of excellence in this machine is that the metal
or substance to he amalgamated passes direct from
surfaces into the quicksilver ; thus excluding the possibility of its

as a Grinder has no equal, and as an Amalgamator no superior.”
As a whole, it is far superior to auy other pan in

PATENT AMALGAMATOR.
These Machines Stand Unrivaled.
For rapidly pulverizing and amalgamating ores, they
havo nocqual. Noefiort has heen, or willbe, spared to
bave them eonstructed in the most perfeet manner, and of
the great number now in operation, not one has everreuired repairs. The constant and inereasing demand for
them is sufficient evidonee of their merits.
They sre constructed so asfo apply steam directly Into
the pulp, or with sleam bottoms, as desired,
This Amalgamator Operates as Follows:
The pan being filled, tbe motlon of the muller forces the
pulp to the eenter, where itis drawwn down throtgh the aperture and between the grinding surfaces, Thenee it is
‘thrown to the periphery into the quicksliver. The eurved
plates again draw it to the center, where it passes down,
and tothe eireumference as before. Thusitis constantly
passing In a regular flow between the grinding snriaces and
ito the quicksilver, until the ore is reduced to an impalpable powder, and the metal amalgamated.
Setlers made on the same principle exeel all others —
They bring the pulp so constantiy and perfectly ln contact
with quicksilver, that tho particles are rapidly and coin
pletely absorbed,
Mil] men are invited to exainine these pans and setlers for

This Valuable Inwention
8S PAST FINDING ITS WAY INTO GENERAL USE, NOT
by means of combination of capital and influence, but
on the strength of its own merits, and upon the principle
that what ls known to be good will be appreciated. Practieal men acknowledge the UNION PAN to be scientific, the
best, the cheapest, and most profitable. It now stands first
on the list of all pans in use for the purpose of
Working Gold and Silver Ores,
Ithas been found that a low class of ores, aiso tailings
from Mills, Sulphurets, cte,, that will not pay to work with
the common pans, may be worked with this and oblain
large profits, The UNION PAN is manufactured in two
sizes, and capable of operating upon large quantities of
ore in the most efticient manner,
__ Parties interested in Quartz Mining, Mills, ete., will find
it to their advantage toeall and examine for themselves,
