The law relative to mineral lands, passed nt the last session of Congress, proving to he very defective in mnny respects, has heen thoroughly revised by the author, Senator Stewart of Nevada, nssisted hy a numher of onr more prominent officials connected with various mining companies, and in this form it will go torward by the steamer of the loth instant, to he laid hefore Congress at its present session. We understand that very important changes have been made in many of its provisions. MINING SHARE MARKET. The Mining Share Market has attracted More nttention this week than at any time during a like period within the past six months, and all first-class ehares show a marked improvement since our last reference. The snbstantial chnracter of recent developments in a nomher of claims, together with the dividends that are heing regularly paid to stockholders, are tempting parties to enter the market who have kept aloof fora long time. The cash reqnirements for the heavy troneactions during the past week have heen very considerahle, the business of the Board alone averaging nearly $200,000 per dny. As most of the purchases are for home account, these halances only change in name, neither angmenting nor decreasing the volume of money at present in the market. The late developments on the lower levels of the Comstock lode have estnhlished » high degree of confidence in the permanency of these minee, and the plan of a deep draining and working tunnel, heretofore proposed, is looked upon with much favor. The mining .compnnies have been called npon to contribute a portion of the requisite funde, and a strong disposi. tion prevails among stockholders, particularly thoee of the paying mines, to contrihute liberallyand promptly, so that this desirahle work may at once be commenced. It is helieved that with a portion of the capital thus ohtained, and the tunnel fairly under way, the bull of the requisite funds will he furnished hy New York. Hate & Norcross. No sales during the week ; $2,000@2,250 is hid, and $2,500 asked. The 65 per cent. assay value of 3,08514 tons of ore, produced during the month of Novemher, gives the company $175,134.62, eqnal to nenrly $57 per ton, and is the largest monthly yield of this compnoy yet reported. ‘he September returns amonoted to $152,363.74. Savaon.—Sales during the week, 80 shares; $2,110. During the week ending December let, 1,250 tons of ore were extracted, assay valne $52,666, leaving an estimated protit of $26,181 after ,dedneting all expensee. The yield is not 8o large as the previous week, from the fact that the force.of men einployed were placed at work other than that ot extracting ore. Inthe upper etations the quality is said to have improved, with no change in the quantity. Winze No. 3 is in fine ore at 40 feet below the 6th level. The north drift from the Curtis ehaft is now nearly under Winze No. 3, and in good ore. It is the intention of the company to make a, level connection with the 7th station works from the old shaft, ahout 150 feet distant, for whick purpose work in the drift ia vigorously prosecuted. Receipts of Bollion for November up to this time amount to $225,000. A dividend of $100 per foot was declared yesterday, payable to-day. This company have a surplus of about $50,000, hesides between 4,000 and 5,000 tons of ore nt the mine, and all expenses paid for mining it. Crown Poinz.—Sales during the week, 17 $1,300@1,250, and closiug at $1,190. The yield of ore during the week ending Decemher ist has been larger than usual, amonntiug to 835 tons. ‘The vein on the 400-feet level is said to be improving. ‘I'he drift cast from the 400-feet level is etill in vein matter, and hag attained a distauce of 174 feet. YetLtow Jacker.—Sales during the week, 256 shares. ‘This stock sold at $1,125@1,170 early in the week, advanced steadily to $1,450, receded to $1,175, then sold at $1,350, and closed yesterday at $1,330. We are unahle to gain any information ahout this mine. No reports, either weekly or monthly, have heen forwarded to the office in thie city ae promised. Goutp anp Curry.—Sales during the week, 22 feet; advancing from $500@515 to $60u (@$610, and closed at $650. During the month of November ahout 5,350 tons of ore were extracted from the mine, of which 2,200 tons were delivered to the Gould & Curry mill, and 2,600 tons to custom mills. The bulliou produced duriug the snme period amounted to $124,683.61; in Octoher, $114 321.67. The latest advices from the mine state that the water is being rapidly reduced, and that drifting had heen resumed on the lower level. ‘The annual meeting of stockholders takes place on the 17th inst. . Oruir.—Saleg during the week, 221 feet ; opeued at $215, improved to $290, receded to $210, rallied to $250, and closed at $235. The shaft is now 90 feet helow the 9th gallery. Tn the drifts north nnd enst on the 9th level, smoll hodies of low grnde ore have been found. Crotuar-Porosi.—Sales during the week, ceded to $250,and closed yesterday at $232 14. The north drift in the first etation of the new shoft is in 296 feet, and has about 250 feet to ron toreach the north line; nothing favorahle so far. he recent development in the south drift.is snid to he at present only two feet wide. Daring the week ending Dec. Ist, 726 tons of ore were eent to custom milla. Empire Mitt anp M. Co.—Sales during the week, 198 shares; opening on Monday at $150@152, eradnally advancing to $185, and at the close sold at $220. This company pays a dividend of $15 per share to-day, and we learn carry forward a surplus of nearly $18,000. Within the past 90 days they have taken from their mine about 7,500 tons of ore—an average of over 80 tons per day, and have now at their dnmps and at the mill over 3,000 tons. A winze has heen sunk to the depth of twenty feet on the vein lately struck in their 700-feet of ore. The working of this vein will he reserved for the new Empire-Imperial shaft, which is now down nnd timbered over 700 feet, and from which a drift to the ledge will prohahly he run sometime in February next. InuprriaL.— Sales during the week, 303 ehares ; fluctuated between $127, h 30, and $131, and closed yesterday at $134. The stamped valve of hullion received during the month of Novemher is $82,640.48. A “ brick” valued at $12,065 is included im the above amount, and is enid to he the largest ever made in this State. The October returns aggregated $98,380. The late developments on the lower levels of the Comstock lode have estnhlished » high degree of confidence in the permanency of these minee, and the plan of a deep draining and working tunnel, heretofore proposed, is looked upon with much favor. The mining .compnnies have been called npon to contribute a portion of the requisite funde, and a strong disposi. tion prevails among stockholders, particularly thoee of the paying mines, to contrihute liberallyand promptly, so that this desirahle work may at once be commenced. It is helieved that with a portion of the capital thus ohtained, and the tunnel fairly under way, the bull of the requisite funds will he furnished hy New York. Hate & Norcross. The 65 per cent. assay value of 3,08514 tons of ore, produced during the month of Novemher, gives the company $175,134.62, eqnal to nenrly $57 per ton, and is the largest monthly yield of this compnoy yet reported. ‘he September returns amonoted to $152,363.74. Savaon.—Sales during the week, 80 shares; $2,110. During the week ending December let, 1,250 tons of ore were extracted, assay valne $52,666, leaving an estimated protit of $26,181 after ,dedneting all expensee. The yield is not 8o large as the previous week, from the fact that the force.of men einployed were placed at work other than that ot extracting ore. Inthe upper etations the quality is said to have improved, with no change in the quantity. Winze No. 3 is in fine ore at 40 feet below the 6th level. The north drift from the Curtis ehaft is now nearly under Winze No. 3, and in good ore. It is the intention of the company to make a, level connection with the 7th station works from the old shaft, ahout 150 feet distant, for whick purpose work in the drift ia vigorously prosecuted. Receipts of Bollion for November up to this time amount to $225,000. A dividend of $100 per foot was declared yesterday, payable to-day. This company have a surplus of about $50,000, hesides between 4,000 and 5,000 tons of ore nt the mine, and all expenses paid for mining it. The yield of ore during the week ending Decemher ist has been larger than usual, amonntiug to 835 tons. ‘The vein on the 400-feet level is said to be improving. ‘I'he drift cast from the 400-feet level is etill in vein matter, and hag attained a distauce of 174 feet. YetLtow Jacker.—Sales during the week, 256 shares. ‘This stock sold at $1,125@1,170 early in the week, advanced steadily to $1,450, receded to $1,175, then sold at $1,350, and closed yesterday at $1,330. We are unahle to gain any information ahout this mine. No reports, either weekly or monthly, have heen forwarded to the office in thie city ae promised. Goutp anp Curry.—Sales during the week, 22 feet; advancing from $500@515 to $60u (@$610, and closed at $650. During the month of November ahout 5,350 tons of ore were extracted from the mine, of which 2,200 tons were delivered to the Gould & Curry mill, and 2,600 tons to custom mills. The bulliou produced duriug the snme period amounted to $124,683.61; in Octoher, $114 321.67. The latest advices from the mine state that the water is being rapidly reduced, and that drifting had heen resumed on the lower level. ‘The annual meeting of stockholders takes place on the 17th inst. . Co.—Sales during the week, 198 shares; opening on Monday at $150@152, eradnally advancing to $185, and at the close sold at $220. This company pays a dividend of $15 per share to-day, and we learn carry forward a surplus of nearly $18,000. Within the past 90 days they have taken from their mine about 7,500 tons of ore—an average of over 80 tons per day, and have now at their dnmps and at the mill over 3,000 tons. A winze has heen sunk to the depth of twenty feet on the vein lately struck in their 700-feet of ore. The working of this vein will he reserved for the new Empire-Imperial shaft, which is now down nnd timbered over 700 feet, and from which a drift to the ledge will prohahly he run sometime in February next.
