EXPLANATION OF THE ABOVE ENGRAVING.
The frame is mado of ‘ast Iron. hound with heavy
wrought iron bands, making it very strong, and at the same
time ligitt and portable. The crusher is bolted toa wood
trame of snfficient hight to clear the tiy-wheel, and aliow
the crushed quarts to pass off. Tlie dutted hnes show the
mevablo and stationar joans: Letter A represents the
eceentrie shatt by which the power is arited direct to the
movabie jaw. B represents the movable jaw, and G the
fixed jaw. Drepresenisthe link or radius bar. E represents tho bolts for regulating the opening, ¥, which ean be
regulated at pleasure, su as to graduate 10 the size to which
itis Intended the quartz shall be crushed. G represents the
Teed openiner by which the sizo of the machine is designated. '
The arrow on the fiy-wheel shows tbe direction to drivo
the eccentric, which, in combination with the link, D. gives
the movabie Jaw, B, a forward and downward motiou at the
same time, and which makes the hardest rock yietd and
Soya into fragments of any desired slze.
fhe above Crnshers hnuve been recently erceted and are
now successfully employed at Bear Valley, Mariposa connty. Rawhide Ranch, Tuolumne county, Excelsior Mine,
ake District, Nevada eounty, and can be seen in operation at the Fulton Foundry, First strect, Sau Francisca.
