Ramroap ror Sournern Catirornta,—A
new scheme for a railroad throngh Southern
California has heen proposed. ‘The plan is to
connect Sacramento city with Fort Yuma, via
Fort Miller, in Fresno county. ‘he road will
be ahout 600 miles in length, and will pass
directly through a large portion of the richest
agricultural region on the Pacific coast. A
district which is rich in mineral wealth, but
which is now-languishing for want of cheap
means of transportation, would hy this road be
brought near to San Francisco. It is to he
hoped that the project will be carried out.
