The Mining and Scientific Press, Weekly Stock Circular. By Associated Brokers efthe &. ¥. Stock and Exchangs Board. City Stoctnx, Transsotions in miscellaneons stocks have been limited during the present week, and for months part this class of ascnritics has exhibited Ittle animation, We note sivall salea of San Franclscn Ges Company stock at &%. The mining share market exhibits some improvement the present week, and genorally most shares have acquired a more healthy tone as compared with last weck’s report. This cocdition of the market cacrios with it a muel bettor fooling on the part of dealors, and sfter tho national bollday ecason—the Board adjonring from this sfternéon until Wedneaday, the 8th—we may look fora hriskor and linproved wiarket. Tho work of mlting development has slnce the opening of apring been steadily progresalve throughout all parts of tho Washoe country, new additions being constantly made to the list of productive and profit-paylng mines. Whilo no new paylng cislna have been opened, er depoalts of Importanes latety made on the maln Comstock lode, most ef tho clahus situate on that range sro ylelding thelr accuetomed complement of mliilsble ore, while a, numher of lodges In the vlelnity, but sltuate a considerable distance from the mother lode, have been worked with results that, having already proved remanorative, promlso to he permanent. That thn usual quantity of ore ef a workahlo grado 14 helng ralsed from tho Comstock group, Is evident frem the fact that all the mills dependent on thls sonrce for thelr ore supplles have been kept steadily employed and at about the same rates as formerly, From tue more Interior mining centres of tho State, such asx Reese River, Mumholdt, Silver Peak, Pine Grove, Curtez, Sllver Nend, snd the dlstriets lying further east, the reports are favorablo for a goed sunimer’s work, and there Is uo doubt but tbe yearly hullion product of Nevnda will be larger this than It was last year. The Stnte abounds with mines rich In hoth geld nnd eliver, but ewing tolts remoteness and other disadvantages, mueh time and. mou-y are requirod to thoroughly epen them and erect works for the reduction of thelr ores. In tdaho a season of considerable activity is looked for, werk having heen resumod and pushed mhead during the past few menths wlth unusual energy both In the quartz and placer mines Sevoral new ditches are to he bullt this season, some of the smaller helug already nearly finished, for cendueting water to the varleus diggings in the Bole Nasin, while a number of quartz mills will he put up In tho Flint, Rocky War, Alturas, and other leading districts, all of which are known to contaln mauy valuahle metalilferous lodea, and in somo ef whleh very luiportant dlscoverles have reeently heen mado. From onr carcfully compiled rocord of tho sales in the San Francisco Stock and Exchango Board, we give the following interesting figares, for the first six months in 1865, 1866, 1867 and 1868: MONTH. . IMPEniAL—was dealt in to a moderate extent, advancing from $130 to $141, reeeded to $135, then sold at $137, and elosed at $140. Have reached nothing satisfactory as yet in the drifts from the lower level. Wegloan the following from the report of the President. suhmitted at the annual meet ing, held onthe Nth of Juae: Fortho current year just, elosed there were crushed at the Gold Hill Mill for the Alta Mine, 2.129 tons, yielding an average of $20 29 per ton; and from the Holmes Mine 8,764!4 tons, yielding an average of $20 11 per ton; in all $219,420 99. In sinking the Imperial-Empire shaft and crocting hoisting works, tbere has heen exponded during the last year $91,506 85, and the same is in the most complete work. ing order. The repairsto the Rock Point mill dam have cost $21,456 74, and improvements at the Rock Point Mill, consisting of dwetling house, machine shop, and new hoilors, etc., havo cost, $7,331 02. All dehts and liabilities of the Company are paid to the close of the month of May, 1868, and no liahilitios have heen earriod over to the month of Juno. The Superintendent reports that, estimating from the hest measurements that can he ohtained of the diffcront hodies of cre now developed en the 37] and 230feet levels of the Alta mine, there yet remainsto he extracted 8,700 tons, which ore will mill from $16 to $30 per ton. In addition to the ahove amount of ore, we have some 2,800 tons on hand, in the dump at the mine; making a total of 10,500 tons yet to he milled. A summary ef lahor done in and ahout this mine during the past year shows the running of 320 lineal feet of drifts, 40 feet only of which was run in ore; the sinking ef 120 feet of winzes, the extracting of 31,491 tons of ore, re-timhering throughout the different levels heing worked in mino, repairs en shaft, and general repairs in and ahout the mine. Most of the ore heing taken from the Hoimes Mine at the present time is from small hodies found aronud old workings on tho 210 and 2% feet levels. Both of these levels are still worked, producing all he ore being extracted from this mine, which ore Is of low grade, ranging from 818 to $22 perton. There yet remains to be extracted from this mine, from the 2710 and foot levels, ahont 2,000 tons of ore, snfficlent tokecpthe Gold Will Mill runnjng for three mocths. Tue TELEGRAPH SIGNAL ARRANGEMENT, adopted some few months since at the Savage mine, and which we have already described, is said to work admirably. The Gold Hill News says that insulated telegraph wires now pass from the surface down into all the principal stations of the mine, and by means of a very simple telegraph instrument at each reqnisite point, a bell is rnng at the surface, signaling the engineer the same as by the former method. The old style of bell wires was very trouhlesome, os by the constant pulling and tngging atit in signaling, it was liable to become disordered and often in need of repairing. Tke galvanic battery used is kept at the surface. To keep this battery running costs a mere trifle This style of telegraphic signals might bo adopted to very good advautage in all our principal mines.
