The water produced hy the condensation is drawn off once a day by a side-cock, and the cnp filled again with the lubricant. Another advantage is, that the condensing process refines the oil, as the water settling down thronvh the lubrieant carries down salts and acids whieh may he containod therein. In this way corrosion of the steam chest aud cylinder is preyented, the puwer of the engine imroved, and un amouot of packing saved.
