The Pacific Rural Press.
Tay Pactrtc Rona Press is now in its third
volume. Its columns contain a large amonnt
of original information upon the different
branches of husbandry on this coast. Its great
vuricty of contents is properly systemized for
the convenience of the reader, and ably prepared in pleasing language and style. Each
number contains something of rare interest to
every member of the household.
The state of this new ficld of agriculture, so
different from all others; the new and improved
methods of farming necessary here; and the
absence of any pnblished record of farming and
rural experience on this coast, form a combination of circumstances which render a really
good journal of greater importance to farmers
here than are similar issues to farmers in any
other part of the world.
The Pactrrc Rurau Press has been heartily
received and well patronized, and its liberal
success enables us to improve and enrich its
columns from month to month,
Its reading and advertising matter is entirely

NATHAN & DREYFUS’
PATENT
Self-Acting Lubricators for Cylinders.
Thoir advsntages over other lubricators are so striking, that it is only a question of thne for them to come
into genera] use~-their accuracy in keeping the valves
and pistons thoroughly and constantly lubricated helng
uneqnalled. A close examination of this reetional view
of Lubricating Cup will givo an idca of its working.
The principio of working is-based on an intermittent
condensation of steam in the UPPER Pant of the enp containiug tbe lubricant. At every couple of strokes, the
steam condensing, produces a drop of water, which,
being heavier than the oil, sinks byits own gravity, and
raises a corresponding drop of oil over into a tubc, which
arises in the ceuter ot the cup and eonveyr said oll directly to the chest and cylinder, this
tube being the only councction from
the Lubricator to the internal part
of the engine. The water produced hy
the condensation is drawn off once a
day by a side-cock, and the cnp filled
again with the lubricant. Another
advantage is, that the condensing
process refines the oil, as the water
settling down thronvh the lubrieant carries down salts and acids
whieh may he containod therein. In
this way corrosion of the steam chest
aud cylinder is preyented, the puwer
of the engine imroved, and un
amouot of packing saved. These Luhricators have been sidop.
