bars 121,404 pounds, valued at $1,222,489.81.
Srrock Iv.—Neal & Flynn whio are working one of tho Florida serice of ledgos,
etruck some very good ore yesterday. They
havo drifted from their incline a distance
of 160 ft. to get what appears to be a fine
and extensive body of ore.
WASHOE.
Savace Mixe.—Virginia Lulerprise, Jan.
26: The new main incline of the Savage ie
180 ft. below the tenth level, 40 ft. above
which it starts. Tho incline is rnn upon
an angle of abont 31° and has, therefore,
uttuined a perpondicular depth of about 100
ft. At this point they are engaged in putting in tho station timbers for the eleventh
level, which will bo 1,100 ft. in depth below the surfaco. Whilo the drift ou
the oleventh is bcing run, work will"be
continued on the incline tillit has reached
tho fnrther perpendienlar depth of 100 ft.
Parke & Bowre’s mill, on Six-mile
Canon, is stoadily running on tailings, of
which tlicy have an almost inexhaustiblo
supply.
Eureka Mitn.—Rapid progress is being
made in the work of setting up the big
Enreka mill on Carson River,
Enuarcixa.—The Crown Point ehaft is
being enlarged by the addition of another
hoisting compartment; this gives the shaft
three compartments.
Good progress is being made in putting
in the two new enginoe. When they start
up again they expect to take out from 600
to 700 tons of oro per day.
Ovnin Mixe.—Sinuking upon the main
ehaft was discoutinued at the depth of
1,250 ft. Drifting at the 1,100 ft. level is
being vigorously proseeutcd. The rock,
which was so hard at first that hut ahout
3 ft. per day conld be made, is of a more
favorable character, and the drift is being
pushed ahead at the rate of 4 ft. each day.
Some workis being done on the 700-ft.
level.
WHITE PINE.
Wanp Brecuren.—W hite Pine News, Jan.
20th: Sinking and drifting in the East end
of the Phillpotts chamher, for the purpose
of connecting with tho East drift of the
Lady’e chamber.
Sovurz Aurona.—Since last report, F. A.
Benjamin has resigned the position of.
Supt. of the South Aurora Co.’s mines, and
M. J. Goodfellow has been appointed in’
his stead.
ehafte connected with the lower tunnel last
down to ore. There is also fair ore in the
bottom of No. 4 shaft.
Pocotinio.—Driving the main tnoncl
ahead, ina hody of fine ore, and piling on
dumps, which willbe assorted aud shipped
to mill in the spring.
Icenrno.—Work was suspended last
week, but the usual force of men will be
put on after heariug froin hoadquarters.
Nooxpay.—The ore body holds a width
of abont 10 ft., and assays about as usual.
Oovrsrve Dists.—Preruont.— Work progrosses as nsnal on the mine, The niill is
running steadily on Co. ore.
Trox Dist.—Mr. Mewton, the managor
of the Troy S. M. Co.’e property, reports
work going ahead as usual. The hoisting
works on the wine will soon he completed.
Frrenrnc.—_Judge Goodwin is making
extensive preparutions to work the mines.
Fnroaces are in course of erection in the
vicinity.
Scnepn Cnzex.—Col. O’Connor’e agent
arrived nt Schellburn last week, and arrangements have been made to commonce operations on the mines; and also for the bnilding of mills, at an early day. New shafts
and cuts have been started up on locations
heretofore unprospected.
Arizona.
Mines anp Mininc.—Prescott Miner,
Jan. 13: Porter and Moreland arrived from
the Gila mines on Tuesday. The most valuable ledges which had beeu discovered
up to the time of their departure, were the
Silver Queen, in tho Pioneer Dist.; the.
Cur, in Nevada dist., and the Yellow
Jacket, just ontside the latter dist. and
close to the waters of the Gila. The Silver Queen is 18 ft. in thickness, and traceable for several miles. The ore containing
only a mere trace of lead, with a very
large proportion of copper. The Cur is
likewise 18 ft, in thiekness; a fissure vein
which crops out holdly for a considerahle
distanee. The ore is of different character
from that of the Silver Queen and not
nearly so rich. The Yellow Jacket is a
new discovery and had not heen prospected.
The operations in Welker and Hassay
ampa Dist. heve heen unusually active.
The work of taking out ore from the Benjamin, for shipment to S. F., is progreseing apece. Mr. Kelly gives it as his opinion that the 7 tons which are to be sent to
8. F. as one of the conditions of the sale,
will yield the purchase money, $15,000.
The Cornucopia, Prescott and Bismarck,
on the dividing ridge hetweon Hessayampaand Walker Dists., and only afew miles
from the Benjemin, will he offered for
The Sheridan and Mitchell) sale in 9. ‘F,, next month,
In Wallapai Dist., the Keystone ledgo,
week. A drift was etarted from the hottom . the principal one yet discovered, is considof the Sheridan shaft, running west to the
spar seam. The foremau is of the opinion
that all the ehefts will he connected in two
weeks from date.
San Juan pet Nro.—There is a force of
5 mon at work sinking. The ore pitches
off at an angle of 45 degrees, and has the
appearance of forming into a true fissure
vein. Average assays of the first-class ore
go $250 to theton. Thereare ahout 70 tons
on the dump, which asseys $60 and $70 to
the ton.
Norra Avrora.—Since last report the
force of men in the Risdele has heen increesed. There isa fine body of highgrede ore in eight in the south end of the
chember. The south drift of the Lady’e
chember is showing ahout es usual.
Bunches of high-grade ore come in, which
is sacked below and shipped separately to
mill. Hoisting es usual through the Engine shaft and shipping hy tramway to
mill.
Szconp Ex.or OnteinaL HippEn TreasuRE.—A drift wes started up recently, running in a eoutherly direction from the hottom of the Anchor tunnel incline. There
is a hody of fair ore in eight. The drift
running east from the uorth sheft isin a
distance of 19 ft., with ledge matter and
black spar in the face,
Gey. Lee.—A drift will stert up about
the 25th of the month, to rnn from the ore
chemher eastward, and following the sper
seam, carrying ore eaeh side. There are
about 200 tons of low-grade ore on the
dumps, which will be milled inthe spring.
Onieinat Hoppen Treasure.—A force
of men will be put on when the ore broken
down is cleared eway. The Big Smoky
mill ie running on Co. ore ae ueuel.
Eneruarpt.—Mention was made last
week of the West drift running from tho
Keystone shaft. A body of low-grade ore
is in eight in the drift. The work of running ahead was stopped last week, and a
ehaft started down, for the purpose of testing the depth of the ore body.
Siuver Wave.—Work in the Cheuoweth,
Lyford, end Perkins ehafts goee ahead ae
usual. The Roswell chaft, near the sonth
line of the Original Hidden Treasure, is
ered to he a true fissure vein. Excavations have heen made on it to the depth of
45 ft. in which it continues to carry a uniform ,width of from 4 to 6 ft., the ore
worked having yielded from $700 to $800
per ton, in silver. The ledge has beon
traced and located for a mile.
The Tiger mine is improving rapidly.
Col. Heed and G. W. Bowers, this week,
hrought over with them, specimens of ore
showing about es much silver as ore.
Jackson & Co., are still running their
mill.
Poland and Gaviu are fixing up for arastraing ore on upper Lynx creek.
The Vulture Co. are doing well.
Mouave Co.—Cor. same: The following
mines in this locality are heing worked
vigorously: The Telegraph, Keyetone,
Fairfield and Mayflower. The Washington’ will be worked from this on, work
heving heen commenced to-day.
Mining and prospecting are being pursued quite lively on all eides. There are
more than fifty ledges heing worked in
this dist.
Three assays of rock from the Fairfield
went from $200 to $400 to the ton.
The 5-stamp mill here h## uot heen running recently. The cause, is a want of
chemioals.
At Parkerville, an effort will be made to
work arestras. Several diecoveries of rich
galena ore have heen made here. The
Keystone has 2 shafts, one 40 ft. and the
other 50 ft.
Colorado.
Carrpou.—Cerihou Post, Jan. 13: Parker
& Bailey have taken author contract on
Wahash, to sink 13 ft. which will meke the
whole depth 60 ft. Thie ehows constant
improvement ae depth ie gained.
The grand view is opening out eplendidly, now eunk tothe dopth of 45 ft. and
with every foot in depth giving evidenco
of the exhaustleee treesuree ofa true fiseure vein of silver. The owners of the
Jones lode, west from the Carihou, have
built a house over the main ehaft, and are
prepered.to prosecute work in any weather.
Gardiner & Bergor have sold the Grey
Eagle lode to a Denver party for $5,100.
Huppor & Moore are working the SovenThirty.
. llook, has bought into the Saginaw lode, a very promising silver yein on
Pomeroy Mt. :
Patterson & Co., owners of the Kcarsing
furnaee howe to commence emelting
early in the Spring.
In Cardinal tho Trojanis worked, and
the surface and second-class ore is yielding lhundsomely in the 12 stamper act to
the water-powcr of the Boulder creek.
Exstenpmse Lope. — The Enterprise
Lode, an eastern extension of the Gilpin
Co., ie improving rapidly, asthe work of
dovelopment progresses. The shaft has
reached the depth of 100 ft., disclosing a
crevico of pay material from 20 inches to
2 ft. in width, On the north wall thero is
a vein of mineral 2 or 3 inches in width,
priucipally ziuc-blendo galona, with occasional spots of brittle silver.
The ganguo rock, principally white
quartz, feld spar and a proportion of talcoso matter, is considered a vory good indication of lodee opening out into fine
crevices of ore in this locality.
Wanp.—Tho following mines are boing ui
worked this winter: TheColumbian, on 2
locatione, one heing tho Ward M. Co's.
property, No. 10, east; the Menhattan and
Celestial lodes, and the Discovery claim on ]
the Sucker. The Ward Co’s, 20-stampmill will he kopt running most of the time.
Montana.
New Sinver Lenor.—Deer Lodge New
North West, Jan. 13: Mr. C. Bennett returned a few days since from the famous
Jefferson silver mines, 20 miles from Helena, where he has been prospecting for the. §
past 2 months. Mr. B. and his partner
have succeeded in discovering what bids
feir to be one of the richest and most extensive veins found in this country for
some time past. They have sunk on it

Ths mining sharc market has been active and
firm thronghent ths week. The seles at the
Beard ferthe week snding Jannary 24th amennted te the large sum ef $4,540,000. Abont $93,000 have been reeeivsd frem the Meadow Valley mine sincs January 6th. On the 25th ult.
$5,000 were shipped frem the Alps mine. The
superintendent ef the Raymond & Ely sends
down $49,000, end says that he is sending 75
tons of ore daily to each of the two mills. The
tmstees of the Glebe Mining Co. hays been
electsd as follews: A. K.P. Harmon, (President,) J. D. Fry, J. C. Fleed, C. B. Land and
D. A. Jennings. W. E. Dean was elected secretary. Over 1,000 tens ef ore were sxtracted from the Crown Point mins, last week,
assaying $25.36 per ten,

“Comanche Ex.” they have pessed through
ahout 7 ft. of barren rock and struck it
better than ever. An incline will be driven
down from the tunnel—now about 75 ft.

Buupion.—Salt Lake Tribune, Jan. 20:
W. F. & Co, réceived on the 18th. 17 hars
of bullion, 2,626 ibs. valued at $50,726.54
from the Raymond & Ely mine; consigned
to New York. On the 20th they received
7 hars, 772 tbs. valued ‘at $9,009.81, from
‘. the Meadow Valley Co. also consigned to
New York. They forwarded to New York
on the 16th, 6 hars, worth $7,456.69 from
the Meadow Valley works, end from the
Pioche M. Co. 6 bars valued at $9,253.16.
Camp Fnoyp.—The Camp Floyd M.
Co. have 3 mines in the ahove-nemed dist.
the Sparrow Hewk, Merion and Lest
Chance. The Co. is opening the Sperrow
Hawk "by exposing a large face of the
Inine with a view of employing 50 men.
The whole width is streaked with fine rich
veins of ore.
The Co. is preparing to bring water to
tho mine a distance of 2 miles to supply
steam for an engine intended to propel a
80-stamp mill. The mill is intended to be
ready for running inside of 90 days.
The Mormon Chief and Grecian Bend
are being worked hy the Omaha Co, with a
steady and favorable development.
The Emery lode is giving employment to
a, number of hands.
The Queen of the West, Washington,
Gen. Lee, Lone Star and other lodes
are being developed with favorable reeulte.
Exsma Ornt.—There are about 1,200 tons
of this ore piled up at Sandy Stetion, the
present terminus of the Uteh Southern.
Some 90 tons of this ore were teken out of
the mino daily during leet week, but the
Co. is thinking of dropping down to about
helf that amount. The ore which is now
coming out of the mine ie of a higher
grade than was ever taken out before; 3
lote of 100 tons eech gave an average assay
of $275 to the ton.

Mining Sales.
Eleven mines, amounting in all to 18,200
feet, in Rush Valley District, have been
eold to New York capitalists. This eale is
reported as being the firet ever made of
Utah mines in New York direct, and will
give en impetus to mines in that district.
The company will immediately proceed to
develop their property.
It is reported that the Trenton mine near
Galena, has heeu eold for $100,000.
The extensive mining property known
es the Hidden Treasure, ahout helf a mile
below Monitor, Alpine Co., hes heen sold
to Eestern parties. ;
The Queen of the West mine, Camp
Floyd District, Uteh, has been sold to
English capitalists for $175,000.
