March 7, 1874.5 MINING AND SCIENTIFIC PRESS: 167 Stickeex Mrvea.—A party of 300 miners left Fort Wrangel on the 10th inst. on their way to the Stickeen mines. We mentioned in a previons issue that parties going thither shonld he carefnl not to overload themselves with provisions, etc.,as the overland ronte is a hard one, The Portland Bulletin, in speaking of the party referred to ahove, is reliably informed that they fonnd large quantities of provisions seattered along the road, thrown away hy overloaded ‘‘sledders."’ The weather had heen cold, hnt nothing like as severe aa they had heen led to expect, and it was then raining. Men who had heen at the mines and wintered at Fort Wrangel, gave new comers Detter enconragement than they had received before leaving home, All were in excellent spirits, and had high anticipations for the fntnre, which we hope may he fnlly realized.
