Wehave made eeveral cross-cuts through the ledge in the tuunel; the Isdge ia about 10 ft. wide aud all good milliug ore. Galena eulphurets all through the ledge; also rich in free gold. The ledge showe 3 ft. wide in the face of the tuunel, the rock heing of au excelleut quality. Good quertz ie also heing takeu from the mine of Lewie, Willett & Smith. Krim & Co. are also takiug out some good ore. Ricuer Tuan Ever.—Yesterday moruiug we wsre chown specimsus of qnartz from the Sau Bruno mine evsu richer, thau thoss meutioned in our last iseue. The specimsus were ahout equally composed of gold end quartz. Wesr Pornr Disrriot.—Mr. McNaughton is opsuing a fius, large vein near the Licking fork. Bill Briggs & Co. diecovered a very rich vein near the North fork, a short distauce from Zacatero miue.' The ore ie over oue foot wide— esmeuted with gold. The Modoo Co., ou the’ east eide of the Valentiue mill, have commenced atoping. The ore is excsllent and easily got. COLUSA COUNTY. Quicxstiver.—Coluea Sun, August 1: ‘Both the. More snp Berrer.— Mountain Democrat, August 1: Leouard Reeg, of Chili Bar, has ehown us a piece of gold-beering soapstone teken from the tunnel in the claim owned hy himself and Peterson. This epecimen shows a lerge proportion of hright, free gold. , SFIELD Mrvg.—Iu this mine fhey have struck. a six-foot lsdge of decompossd quartz which gives highly favorahle proepeots. The lowsr tunnel is uow iu 212 feet, aud is from 500 to 600 fest helow ths surface, Irems. — Republican, July 30: Some good ground ie now heing worked at the Exceleior, Coou Hollow, just south of the city limits. The indicatious are that many tsns of thousauds will hs teken out of this miue by the oloss of the year. Cerro Bentro.— Zxpositor, August 1: Iu Panoche Valley the reducing worke of the Cerro Benito qnicksilver mine have again heen etarted up, the repeirs to the furnaces completed, eud the etreams of quicksilver sre ageiu flowiug from the coudeusere. : INYO COUNTY. ” Syuvanta.— Independent, July 25: The Marriotte furuece here has a capacity of two tous of ore per day, working up to 96 per ceut.' of the leed contaiued. The furnace is a reverheratory. From 2,300 ponnds of ore ruu through the Merriotte fnruace a few daya since, 937 pouude of hullion were obteined, coutaiuing silver to the value of $451.98. The Emma No. 2 mine, belougiug to Louis Marriotte, hae quite a lot of good ore on the dump, 20 tone of which is to be put throngh this furnaceimmsdiately, This geutleman has discovered a large hody of fire clay, sufficient to aupply all demande of the camp. The Emma No. 2 chows at 18 feet deep athree foot ledge solid, of grey carhonatee, assaying hy numeroua teatefrom $45 to $160 perton. W. F. Kiucaid haa a sheft down 112 feet, the deepest iu the dietrict, ou a silver ledge teu inchee wide at that depth, assaying $800 per tou. Also ou a leed mine called the Liheral, a ehaft 55 feet deep, with a four foot ledge, aud quite a lot of oreon the dump. He has aleo an opeu cut ou another ledge showing e face of 11 feet of epleudid leed ore, the hest iu the district. There ia about 100 tous of thia on the dump. Several locationa are made in a quartzite formation aome' 300 feet iu width, which haa heeu traced aud proepected more or leee every 300 or 400 feet for 10 milea, or clear into the White mouutaius.' ™ LAKE COUNTY.
