OT TTS _Ixcome Tax.—For the information of our readers and patrons (we are under no obligations to’inform those who do not_pa~ tronize us) we .would state that the time is { soon to Srrive when.the District Collectors due the Government. It is important that every man liable to pay the tax should know his duty in the premises, because by neglect he may make trouble and costa. for_himeelf ‘The features of the law are very well known; ~ Bat it is probably not very well understood that should the Assessor fail to-assess the tax tipon a person, that person will not on that account be exempt, but the District “Collector will expect him to present himself for the payment of his tax, the same as if he was formally assessed. We would, therefore, impress upon our friends the import ance of paying their income tax before the 30th day of June, whether assessed or not} . because the Collector will commence suit with all delinquents immediately after that day. The income tax-is-payable at the office of the Collector, and that-officer is under no obligation to put himself to the least trouble ~ to accommodate tax payers. «Our friends’ will do well ta remember these facts. THEATRE. —We are pleased to announce that Miss Sallie B. Goodrich will appear ups on our boards in appropriate characters; on Monday evening next. Miss Goodrich has been announced to appear before a Nevada audience in_times.past,’ but owing to unfors seen circunrétances ‘sh@ could not meet her engageménta."~ This time she will make her appearance positively. Miss. Goodrich has received warm commendations from the press as a young lady of much promise. She has educated herself in our own State, and may be looked upon as a California producs tion.A southern born lady, her patriotism 1s yet of the first order. ¢ An examination of the advertisement in another column, or a: reference to posters about town, will give an idea of the -character of the performance on Monday night.— We could wish-te see the young lady wel received by the gallant and beautiful. te" Br. Byrne is poking fun at us becanse we had the.good fortune to be elected first Corporal of the Nevada Light Guard: As we are not much in favor ef corporal punishment, he shall be let off this time with a warning. CorPeR.—We understond a fine lot of ore has been struck in the Well claim on Prettyman’s Ranch. The prospects are better every day. The ore prospects at the rate of 28 per cent. Professor Whitney, State Geologist, visited the mine on Monday, and ~ pronounced it rich and promising. Quite an excitement has been created by the prospect. THE PuBLic SCHOOL.—The examination of the students of the public school’ commenced yesterday. We are informed that the classes in arithmetic and grammar were examined. The exercises of to-day will close the term of the school. This afternoon we understand the pupils of the High School; in addition to the examination, will have declamations and compositions. a Tne CELEBRATION.—The dedication and celebration of the Odd Fellows on Monday next promises to be agrand affair. The lodge from Grass Valley “will be here and participate in the proceedings.
