Perbaps it was well that it was 60, aa the young lady was not well on that evening and might not have exhibited that life and spirit easential to success on a Grat appearance before strangers. There were & few—about thirty—who would have been happy to listen to Miss Goodrich on that vecasion, but she very prudently desired them to take their money and wait tilla more favorable epportunity, which she nam-~ ed, Thursday (te-morrow) evening. = The press of the larger cities of the State has spoken of Mies Guodrich is a young nl: of rare talents and attractions, Califo educated, born in the South but. devoted heart and soul to the Uniow-of the States, a eteas, scholar. elocutionist, and lady in ; very sense of the word, and deserving of tronage. She reads sometimes her own pems, as wellas from Shakepeare and other Standard authors, and gives an intellectual ntertainment worth more ‘than the price of dmission to any’ one educated in head thee than’in heels.
