COLLECTING Taxes.—The Collector is
collecting up the taxes on personal property,
m accordance with & law that has oot been
strictly adhered to in the past, By negleeting to collect the taxes on personal property
as the law requires when the assessment was
‘made, the county. lest last year a considerable amount by persons re:noving and taking
their property, money and goods, with them.

HPT he Grass Valley National says a Chinaman, living down in Chinatown, was stabbed by Frank Hedge, on Friday evening,
abvut 8 o'clock. We learnthat Hodge was
drunk and had got into a difficulty with a
Chinawoman, when a Chinaman interfered
and Frank stabbed him.—We-ealled—te see
the Chinaman this morning; he was not suffering much from the wound, which is in the
right shoulder, and is not considered a dan~
gerousone. Hodge is now in charge of an
officer ‘awaiting an examination.
