Best Kixp or News.—From the Stockton Independent : We learn thut the late flood has caused no perceptible damage to the growing grain in the neighborhood of Mokelumne City, ex_ in such places as were subjected toa sweep of the current. Where thé water ae flowed over volunteer grain, or grain newly sown but far enough advanced previous to the overflew to have furmed a healthy root, it is said the appearance ofthe -<rops were never better; and farmers are in good prospects of & suedeposit._of sediment eessful_-harvest.. The ec ver the fields of grain has been a0 distribu 4: as Mid thet 3 it -hus-rather-benefitted than otherwise the volunteer grain. A considerable portion of the land had heen but recently. sown when. the heavy .rains mate their ap-. “pearance, and the ground being mellowed by the harrow, the slightest flow’ of water washed away the grain.
