Camo, Feb. 25th—Col. Webster arrived
to-day from Clarksville and says Pillow fied
from Fort Donelson to Cleariv:lle and de.

the river. Nota county of road bridge eseaped vandalism. The valuable wire bridge
near Nashville was burned by Pillow’s orders. Finding he could do nothing at Nashville, Pillow destroyed all the military stores
which could not be carried off.

The report that Gov. Harris wished an in: terview with Gen. Grant is an error. He
‘. delivered an iutense war message to the Legislature in which he declared that Tennessee
Gen. Nelson's, Ky., Brigade reached Fort
Donelaon on Sunday and was immediately
forwarded to Nashville. Gen. Buell’s timely
arrival there undoubtedly saved the city from
utter destruction, as Pillow could not have
saved it from his desperadoes if the Federal
