B.-~This celebrated musical have been-on a starring expedition to San Suvore which had the effegt of exhausting the stock of lager beer in the various establishments of that village, and made it impossible for the flute man to obtain anything but a harsh and sqeeaking sound from bis instrument, owing to the parched up condition of his lips. The -manage's cannot feel otherwise than highly flattered at this brilliant suecess of their troupe, and we trust their pres@nce among us will not only delight our dildettanti, bat prove a powerful stimulus to the manufacturing of lager beer. LawD SLIpE.—About two hundred feet of ground slid off of Manzanita Hill, yesterday, completely filling up Maltman & Co.’s claims. and damaging them to the amount of “thousands of dollars. The Dead Rabbit Co., adjoining, also sustained a loss by the slide, but nothing in comparison to the former company: ‘Tomilinson’s old flour mill was ¢ompletely submurged in dirt and boulders by the slide, but snstained little damage. MeeTING To-niGHT.—A meeting of the members of the Hook aod Ladder Company Members take notice. ‘Wenpen's Baipee.—A rope suspension bridge, for feet travelers, has been thrown by Mr. John Webber across the South Yuba Fiver on the.site of the old bridge. It isa “temporary affair, for the accommodation of foot travelers. sa Hyprants Burst.—The three hydrants on Spring street have been burat by the freezing of the water in them during the cold nights of late. We understand the Chief Engineer of the Fire Department has called . the attention of the Board of Delegates to the propriety of attending to the hydrants and keeping them ‘n order. A very little care might have prevented the bursting of these hydrants. Lucky Prinrer —One of our friends, a Grass Valley “typo,” whilst engaged in working his claim, situated on St. Mary’s Ravine,’ near Wortbington’s Ranch, a few days since, found a large boulder containing gold mixed through it. On crashing the boulder it yielded $290. Of course a printer would not work when he hed so much money, so our friend puta “sub” on-his claim and is now around “ seeing the sights” and seeking investments for hia-gurplus cash. == Frozen To DeaTH.—A man named John Thomas, was frozen to death on Wednesday night, last, one mile this side of Bowman's Ranch. He was on is way from Eureka to ATLANTIC Mowruty.—The January number of this most excellent of all Ameriean magazines, has arrived. Prof. Agassiz commences in the number a series of articles on Naturgl History. The Magazine is surpassing iteelf every new issue. ~ THE S16 UP.—Mike Mitchell, the jig dancer, died -in-a fit at Purtiand, Oregon, on the 5 lthut. ENGLISH PaRLIAMENT.—The Parliament of England meets to-morrow. There will probably be an effort. made to recognize the Southern Confederacy. Weshall see what we shall see.
