Cico is a sparkling and popular actress, who
performs in one of the Paris theaters. Some
time since she became involved, as witness,
in a civil suit: Now, it is obligatory, in
France, when a witness is called on the stand,
to tell not only his-‘name but. also his age.
This, it appears, was not exactly to the liking
of the actress, but was hugely ‘relished: by
her feminine rivals-in the profession, who.
flocked to-the court room on the day of trial,
apparently to gratify mere curiosity, but really to enjoy the confusion of the fair witness.
When the fatal question was asked, the speetators held their breath, not to lose a syllable.
Mille Cico walked up to the judge’s stand,
aa close-as she could get, and raising herself
on her tip-toes, whispered something to the
judge, who, in his turn, gallantly whispered
it to the clerk, who silently wrote it down.
Mille Cico then gave a ‘triumphant look towards the elongated faees-of her-rivals, after} °
which she proceeded with her testimony.

A Deticate ConunprumM.—A modest

following conundrum: “ Why are most
people who eat turkey like babies?” No

have backed out, but finally gave the reason :
“ Because they are fond of the breast.”—

young man was caarried out by the coroner.
