In passing along our sidewalks in the heat of the day, a sultry dum pness, accompanied with ansthing but an agreeable smell, rises and oppresses you. So much water is ness that the evenings, generally so delightful at this season of the yeur, are chilly with dampuess. The cdnsequences are scen in the. colds. sore throats ‘and rheumatic pains but too prevalent, and which were unknown till every house had its own sprinkler, and all the water that could be used.
