Twenty-Five Cents Per Week.
An Eastern correspondent of the Bulletin
has the following :
A letter{rom a young. American, written
May 29th, from the town of Buckeburg, in
Prussia, has-been received by his friends in
one of the Eastern cities. He says that. M.
Von Rodonts, a Prussian officer, had that day
called to bid him good-by, as he was going to
America to tuke arms on the side of the
Federal Government, and thac eighty-two
Prussian officers besides himself had received leave of absence for one year, so as to
serve in the war for the Federal Government.
This news has been well confirmed by re~ ports and advices from other parts of Prussia. Some make the number of officers thus
applying tor leave more or less than the
above number, and the term of leave two
years instead of one, but the main portion of
the stutemeut is substantially true. » Dhe
Government of Prussin and that of Victor
Emanuel, in Italy, were the first in Europe
tu manifest a clear and unmistakable sympathy for our own. When Russia is heard
from, its sympathy no doubt will be found to
be as full. and unreserved, if that diplomatic
ass, Cassius M. Clay, who has beén sent
thither, duvs nut make some gross’ blunder,
the American dinner in Paris. ‘The leading
Gastern papers recoinmend the Government
to give tire Prussian visitors a proper récepfion. They will be of great service in drilling and officering the great number of “German regiments who ure among the Federal
volunteers.
