For some . reason which we do not know, however, the company has not teen getting along satisfactorily; and we regret to see the work advertised to be'sold at Sheriff's sale. We suspect, however, that the road will be redeemed by the company, and the work prosecuted with renewed vigor. At. avy rate, we have the satisfaction of knowing that, whether the e«mpany r-deem it or not. the road will be finished, as parties are now on the ground, to ascertain the exact. amount of labor necessary to complete it, and stand naly to buy it whenever it fs offered for sale. We hope arrangements may soon be made which will eause the work te be soon put through. Now is the time for it. Piesanell Po.ice. — Officer Knerr, on Thursday evening, found Jim Macky engaged in belligerent action, at the Golden Gate Saloon, with Mr. Mau, the keeper of the aforesaid institution, who, not fancying Jim’s peculiar actions had attempted to eject him from his premises. Knerr escorted Jim te the calaboose, and, yesterday morning, Justice Kendall put him on the debtor’s side of his ledger to the tane of six dollars? Jim, not having so much ehange-about him, Knerr locked him up for a three day’s meditation on the folly of fighting saloon keepers. ne te The Fire Companies have all met, and made the preliminary arrangements for their ’ grand turn out on the Fourth.
