FRIDAY = A Breacu op Farrn.—Our readers and the public generally, have been promised a performance by the Hanlon Brothers on the comping” National Anniveraary. We atated tome days since thata pavilion was to be buiit for the occasion. Since that time the MORMING, JUNE 47. and! the public informed thet the show was not to come off as angounced. ° There are some facts in relation té this matter that the public ought to know. that they may judge between men and men and help to right a wrong. We are about to give ‘+hose facta that all who love justice may render it those to whom it is due. On the 16th of Jane Mr. George S. Pierce, of this place, in connection with others, conceived the idea of procuring the Hanlon Brothers to give attraction to the 4th of July, and sent the despatch to Thomas Ma. guire, under whem the acrobats are at pretent engaged, reading-thus : NEVADA, June I6th. THOS. MaGuirE:—Can I haze Haglon Bros. { Sd & 4th of July,on terms you told mé? If so. will build pavilion. G. 8. PrercE. A talk had been previeusly had with Ma. guire in San Francisco ia reference to the matter. _The same day Maguire telegraphed an anwer to the above dispatch ; (Anewer.) SAN FRANCISCO, June 16th ~ G. 8. PIRRCE :—Will let you know to-morrow. T MAGUIRE. Then fullowed theae diapatcher der published : in. the orem : 8. F., June 17tk . G. 8. Prerck:—Yon ean have Hanion Brothers and.O’Nicl to make entertainment July 3d & 4th, for one thousand dollars ; you tu pay all expenses from Marysville ; $250 to be paid in Marysville on the Ist of July as security. T. MAGUIRE. < NEVADA. June 17th. “P. MAGUIRE: L-aerept—y ow give three performances altogether ; evening of the 3d and aftereen and evening of the 4th. Do you understand it-so?. { write you to-night. 3 8s PIERCE. Answer. : ’ $.F., Jame 17th. G. S. PIERCE :—My talk with you was for . . $1,000 for two performances. T. MAGUIRE. NbvVAbA, dame d7thy T. MaGutrE :—I_ will give you one thousand dollars, aa we.talked,.and you giveme.three.per-. formances. Will give you security for the men ey. It will cost me $800 to build the pavilion and bring the party from Meryeville. : G. 8. PIreRcE. 4 8 F., June t7th. G. 8. PIERCE :—Impoassible “es you 3 performances for less than $1,250. » MAGUIRE. , NEVADA, Jane [?th. T. MAGUIRE :—Will accept your terms. Have sent letter. G. 8. PIERCE. After sending this dispateh the contract . was considered honorably sealed between. the parties, and a contract was let ty Mr. F.C Tilton to construct a pavilion 40 ft. wide by150 teet long, and 35 feet high, and a lot was procured and three heavy loads of, lumber were immediately put on the ground Supposing of course, that all was right and not hearing turther from Maguire the preparations went on. But two days intervened and oo bills arriving, Mr. Pierce seut 4 dispatch: to Maguire as follows : NEVADA, June [9th. T. MAGUIRE :—Do you ship bills to-day. Answer. G.S. PIERCE. Wo ; will let you know to-m) rrow? T. MAGUIRE. The next day, June 20th, Maguire tele. graphed: Things have transpired which make it impossible to make any arrangement with you. : T MAGUIRE. Thus, Maguire played an old game ot bisAccording to Mr. Pierce’s statewient, in the converration with Maguire at San Francisco he agreed to give three performances foy $1,000. Afterwards he refused to give but two for that money, and raised the price $250 fer the third performance. That was acceded to and the public informed, that an arrangement had been made, aad expense was incurred in getting lumber upon the ground. . Then, Maguire backs out and proposes to bring his company here-to-exhibit-}on his own hook. We regard this as an act of bad faith, justly meritihg the censure of the public. It ie noc the first time tnat Maguire hae entered into arrangements for shows in thig place and backed out leaving the expenses he incurred unpaid. We have u distinct'recellection of printing for him op former oceasions, when the advertised did not appear and the bilis remain—bilis to this day. It. is time those tricks were expesed. “Since the above was written Mr. Pierce has received a dispatch stating that John Terrence will be here to-day -to make arrangements with him for the appearance of the nae Brothers. This is rather confire matory of the suspicion that bas all along been entertained by some parties that Tom. Maguire has been playing ‘or an offer of show. there oa the. Fourth and intimating ‘.
