UBT Wo. 3° 1:30 P. m., June 26th.— Pe Reorstary of War : We have advanced under anharp resistance ; the men behaved Fifteen minutes past three o’clock P. m. The enemy is making a desperate resistance one half of Hooker's men are where we want or’s right. with-a brigade and a couple of guns. D hope in afew minutes to finish the work The men are behaving splendidly. The enemy are fighting well also, This is not a’ battle, metely an affair of Heintzleman’s corps, supported by Keyes, and thus far all goes well. We hold every foot wo have gained. The loss thus far is not large. The fighting up to this time has been dove by Hooker’s-division, He has silenced the enemy's batteries on his front. We have gained our point fully. with but lit. tle loss, notwithstanding a strong opposit~ ion. Our men did all that could be desired. The affair was partially decided by two gnns that Cajit. Towle, the young American civil engineer who invented the temporary steering gear after the breaking of the rudder on the last voyage out, has libeled the great ship, ty have justice dove him for his services, Cuaneg Sugeestep.—The San Francisco Journal saya that a correspondent of the Oregon Statesman, suggests that the name of a county. should be changed. He says: “I do not thing it right that any coun-~ ty of one State should bear the name of a traitor, We cannot wound treasdn too deeply, while our brethers are pouring out their blood, and itis orying to us from the ground. I hope taat the citizens of every county in the State will petition the Legislature on this subject.” One OF THE TRaTToRS.— Sykes, one of Lanes’ Indian Agents in Oregon is a Feder. al prisoner at Columbus, Ohio, with irons on hie legs. He wae captured in Virginia, with a portion of Jackson's army, in which he was anofficer. When Sykes left Oregon to join the rebellion, he said “he wae going to, figtit for the South, and if he met any of the Oregon Union men there be should kill them.” Fumes auirri.e.—The Placerville News rails out againat the Pacific Railroad Bill beeause it saya the bill favors the Dutch Flat route, in which Goy. Stanford has something todo. It also snys there is corruption in the matter. Broke Down.—We commenced getting a despatch with war news yesterday ; but two pages were scarcely finished, when the wires broke down between this and Marysville. Demurrer to Motion of OverrulHis Creditors. Sheriff Henwress Roan.—Teamsters tel us there is no batter road in the country than is the one from this place to Eureka. Chris. Flaugher has improved the crossing of the Yuba, greatly, which was the worst part of the route formerly, The road is now in splendid condition ail the way from this city to Wash. oe. The bridge across the Truckee will be completed ready for teains by the 4th of July. One more link is required and that is being constructed. The road from Lincoln to Grass Valley will be built in a few weeks, and then we will be within thirty miles of the cars, and on thw line to the finest and best road to the Silver region that crosses the mountains. No mistake about it. Divorce Svuir.—Veronika. Denzer, by her attorney G. L. Watera, commenced a suit in District court, yesterday, against Charles Denzer, preying for a divorce and the custody of her children. The court ordered a summons to be published to Denzer in the Nevada Daily TRaNscrieT. SaLutTe.—Geo. W. Yant, acting on the purest of impulses in a good cause, stationed himself yesterday morning in front of the National Exchange and collected $34 of Geo. Lancaster's boarders, with which thirty-four guns were fired Inst evening at 5 o'clock, by artillerywen Davis # Varney, in honor of the final passnye of the Pacific Railroad Bill.
