Having exhausted all the resources which the press of Nevada city afforded, they have, at last, sought the channel of a local -paper in the-extreme corner of the county, where both myself, and the facts of the case, are least known; and doserting the character of anonymous secribblers, they have. finally found in this grand juryman McGuire a semiofficial exhibitor of their wares. If the: writer of T. McGuire's “cara” had signed his own name ty it, he would have shown considerable manliness—but very little discretion. — The worth of newspaper articles, like prom. issory notes, depends much upon the names attached to them. Yesterday the accounts were stated in expectation of Mr. Chase's entrance on-his duties, and they show a balance ‘in the cers, applicable to the current expenses of the Government, exceeding $6,000,000. This, whith the current receipts from the Customs, amounting to about $8,000 per day, in coin, it is believed will enable the incoming Administration to sustain itself without calling for further loans for a considerable length of time. Tre INAUGURAL IN THE SOUTH.—Accounts from the south indieate that the inaugural has been unfavorably received there, as ageneral thing. At Nashville, Tennessee, opinions are somewhat unsettled by its reception. At Jackson, Mississippi, Columbus and Tuscumbia, the people consider it a declaration of war. At Vicksburg it 1s regarded unfavorably, and is generally con. sidered a silly production. At New Orleans it is generally condemned. At Louisville the Union men are rather favorably impresed with it, while the sympathisers with the Southern Confederacy think it a declaration of war ~SECESSION UN Sourm Caro.ma.—The leading politicians of South Carolina are wessels and’7 first class steam pi Our Navy.—The “ Naval Register” for ~~ 2.
