District Court.—The District. Court was employed vesterday in the examination ‘ot the cuse of Winham vs. His Creditors and resulted in favor of Winham. In the case of Lambert vs. Bisby et al, _judgment was enterediin favor of plaintiff for five dollars, and injunction made perpetual. In the case of E. Ransom vs. Marmaduke Ransom, the Court ordered an exeoxtion to issue against defendant for $400 for costs, -&c., and that further proceedings be stayed until the 20th inst. i BENEFIT OF Miss WAGNER.—The little harpist and vocalist, whe hae proved such a capital antidote to the blues with numbers of out people, and afforded more amusement generally than actors with much higher pre. tensions, takes a benefit. on Monday evening next at the Milwaukie Brewery, on Spring street. STEAMER ASHORE.—At 6 o'clock, Jast evening, some of the crew of the steamer Swan_arrived here in a emall beat, bringing the information that the steamer. while on her way down from Red Bluff, when one hundred and seventy tiles above the city; had run ashore, and could nat be gut off without additional aid. It appears that while taking some * short cut” through a slough connected with the Sacramente river, the Swar struck the bank and became a fixture. She has received no damage. To-day the steamer Gem, which has a full conviction of the perplexity of such a position, and sympathizes accordingly, has gone to the relief of the Swan.—Sac, Bee. STock STARVING.—We are informed that! more stock has been lost from cold and hunger-since the rains than during the foods. Cattle on the highlands have recently died in great numbers, the owner, not being able to supply them with.food:’ fii ‘mang jinetances they have been drivéii on elds of young barley, in order to obtain. proper nourishment. Mr. George Myéis, who resides about eight wiles from Yuba C'ty, on Eddy’s ferry road, lost about one hundred head from cold and starvation.— Marysville Express. Catirornia Drirrv.—Capt. E G. Hewes of the schooner Wild Pigeon, just arrived from Mazatlan, reports having seen large quantities of drift of every conceivable character, two hundred and fifty miles off this port. The sight was so unusual even to his accustomed and observant eye, that ne noticed the phenomena most particulanly. He reperts that it looked like the debris from some sunken city, and he thought San Fran ‘cisco had gone under. The fact that drift that far seaward is seldom seen in this latiude, is a singular confirmation of the intenof the great flood which lately devasat‘alifornia.--S.F.
