In short, had Jim left. town when he tore
himself away from his friends in the jail, we
doubt not he would have entertained a golden
opinion of Nevada for the rest of his life.
‘Unfortunately he tarried here a few days af.

But when, a few days after, hé was again

good as his word, and left, incontinently, for
some place where there is no calabecee.

Damage Tv Fruir Trees.—The cold and
cloudy weather of the past few days has culminated in a snow storm, the effects of which
have been disastrous to the orchards in this
section of country. The thick foliage of the
trees afforded such a chance for the accumulation of the snow, that the branches, already
laden with fruit, broke down under this additional weight. All the fruit trees, yesterday morning, laoked like so many weeping .
willows, and their vwners, whilst contemplating their prostrate limbs, bad, themselves,
very much the appearance of mourners The
trees, thus far, have suffered more than the
fruit, and if the weather does not tarn very
cold, the crop will yet be passable. There

To Consumers cf California Wimes-—
Our Native Wines have been much prejudiced in
this and other markets by spurious mixtures and
adulterations, purportiag:to be pure California
Wines, from the Los Angeles vintage. These
cheap compounds are being offered to the public
at almost any price, and arc industriously hawked
about and peddied in every variety of style, until
our ¢itizens have despaired of obtaining a genuine and pire Wine. It may be a matter of
of some interest to know that Messrs. SAINSEVAIN BROS. are putting up some of their cclebrated wine from the Vineyard of *‘ Ki Also,”’ at
Los Angeles. The public may rely upon getting
