The-proprietor of the track has made all neeessary preparations.for the accommodation of spectators. ©) — ANOTHER WaGon Roap.—About four years ago we urged the importance of conconstructing a Wagon Road from Nevada to Dutch Flat, via Little York. The reasons for building such a road were set forth at’ thattime. By reference to an advertisement‘ inanother column, it will be seen that the preliminary steps have been taken to éonnect Dutch Flat with Nevada by a turnpike, and that men of means havetaken hold of the project. A road between the two places is needed. The intermediate country will be greatly benefitted by the road. It onght to Mrs. LEIGHTON.— We ‘undeistand that inimitable creatare, Mrs. Leighton, and a fine company, will be along ina few days te draw the fashion and beauty of the town to the Theatre. Mrs. Leightun is one of the very best in her line, and as we have had no thestrical amusements of late. she must be re« ceived with more than usual audiences. A woolen factory in Haverhill, Mass., owned by George Stevens, was lately destroyed by fire. Mr. Stephens had just contracted to furnish the Government with a large quantity of flannel. Too CoLp FoR THEM. — Most of the Steckton‘teamsters who have been in the business ‘between Folsom and Washoe, have returned for the season, lest they be taught ‘on the mountains or beyond them ina storm. THE business transacted in the custom house at Montreal during September is stat*d to have been noprecedently large. Upward of nine hundred entries were made, covering nearly twenty thousand packages of merchandise of an aggregate value of of about $825,000. the duty collected beiag $144,985. ; : Ge Gen. Buell’s train, which followed in the rear of the army on the march to LouisVille, consisted of 1,800 wagons, drawn by 10,000 horses, There was also 1500 convalescents from eighty-four different regiments Accompanying the train were 118 wagon loads of ammunition. CasE OF MARSHALL.—Marshall, one of the parties indicted with Snell for the robbery of Hoy,-was tried in the Court of Sessions yesterday. The jury after béiug out about ten minutes brought in a verdict of guilty. He was ordered to appear for sentence on Tnesday next. A NEPHEW of traitor Breckinridge enlisted in the, 11th regiment Illinois volunteers at Cairohe other day. He expressed the amiable hope that a bullet from his rifle might lay his traitor uncle low. It is stated that Gen. William O. Of the idiotic there were reported 17,286 free and 1,579 slaves. > A Carrpoo Incinent —A gentleman who has just retnrned from the mines tells us, that being struck with the light appearance o a man who had undertaken to pack a keg of butter, weighing 132 pounds, from Antler to William’s Creek for a miner, he asked him to put himself in the «cales. whereupon he found that the man weighed 135 pounds—only three pounds more than his load.
