Fast’ DrivinG.—There is a great deal of
ujriving faster than a walk” over all our
ridges, and it is done too, by men who ought
tp kwow better. Local often sees horses
rotting over the suspension bridge, andthe
analler bridges of the ‘town, and nothing 1s
done to the driversat all, at all. Atleast the
reords of the courts show no cases of fining
jor the offense. So far as the smull bridges
sre concerned, officers are competent to arratand punish. But the Suspension oe
isnot yet accepted by the Board of Trus es,
ind the ordinances of the Board may uot be
sppliesble to it. Nevertheless someth: ig
should be done for the bridge. If the tolvn
ean reach the case, it ought to be done. If
men will nct learn to regard the rights of the
publie any better than to drive like Jebu
across & costly bridge, or one that-.is not so
costly, they should be dealt within a summrymenner. There are violatiins enough
monthly of the rights of tho public, by fast
dnving over the bridges. of the town to pay
the expenses of the local governmentif the
propecamount of fines were imposed. We
call the attention of the Board of Trustees to
this matter. ~
