Below we give a ale of the testimony taken betore Coroner Henry, yesterday, in the case of ‘Ah Sing, who was kille@ on Monday evening, in this place : . Wm. Scott—About 7 o'clock, Monday wight, I heard the report of a piste! and came across Broad-street; saw-Searls stand-.) ing on the side-walk below ; seme one spoke —I do not know whoit wias—anil suid “ that —his name is Henry Searls. I believe ;.as I approached him he threw something from his hands, it hid the appearance of a pistel ; I could not see distinetly. A man by the name of John. Lingo picked up a pistol and handed it tome. The pistol exhibited tom is the one handed me by Lingo. L arrested Searls and asked him what was the trouble, he said} a Chinaman had taken his pistol, a revolver, from him.” I then delivered the prisoner aver to George Lenhart. I did not receive the pistol from Lingo until after I had deliveved the prisoner to Lenhart. Jacob Gilbert—I was passing this house about 7.o’clock, lastnight.’ 1 heard a row inside and came in. A white man was standing before the door of a-1oom, keeping a China woman inside. A few minutes after a Chinaman came in-and told the. man to let the woman out. The Chinaman spoke very The man said the woman could not come out-until the porom came. Shinaman replied, ‘tif you don’t let the wort man out I will get her out.” A/few’ words passed when the Chinam:n pitehed into the white man—eaught hold of him, whena scuffle.ensned. Several women-—then. joined in, and.soon after the Chinaman says: ‘‘ he has a pistol in his hand,” and then ran out of the house into the street. The white man followed the Chinaman almost imniediately. I was about three feet from them at the time of the scuffle. IT saw no pistol in-the hand of the white man<there was. no light in the room. As the Chinaman passed through the front room, where there: was a light, Isawa pistol in the Chinaman’s hand. He? was then passing out into the street—it was a revolver he had in his hand. I saw a similar pistol picked from near the Chinaman’s side after he was shot. The white man said, before the scuffle. that the woman had robbed him of ten dollars, and she could not come out until the policeman came and searched her. I heard the white man say nothing about the Chinaman taking any pistol from him. I heard «ll that passed up to the time the Chinaman went into the street. I did not leave the house until aft the shot was fired I heard the shot almost immediately after the white mun passed into the street. C. M. Bates—Death was éaused by a pistol shot penetrating the right temple bone, above, between the eye and ear; ranging backwards and directly through the head. The ball here presé@nted I found after removing the caliverum ; it had passed almost entirely through the brain. Death must necessarily follow from such a wound. John Grimes—I recogmze the small pistol as one of a pyirl purchased in ’59. I presented it to. Patsy Calahan when he was tending bar for me. Tundersteod from three or four persone that Patsy had. given or traded it to Hank Searls within a week past, at the State Fair, in Sacramento. James Churchill—About 7 o ‘clock, last evening, I was.on the opposite side. of the street and hevrd a scuffle. I. came across the street.and met a Chinaman coming out of the house and he started up the street. Immediately after I saw a white man come from the same house ss the Chinaman. He stepped inte the street, and immediately thereafter I heara the report of a pistel. I saw no pistol and do not know positively who fired it. The Chinaman fell when the éhot was fired. The white man and Chinaman were about 12 feet apart when the shooting took place. I saw the white man referred to with his arm raised in a shooting position. I could net recognize anythingin bis hand. I heard the report at the same time his arm was raised, I saw noflash. David B. Keyes—I was coming dowo Broad street and when within a few feet of . the house a Chinaman rushed past me_and started up the street. Immediately-after “a man rushed after him. Just-as the man passed off the sidewalk; betfialved, raised his arm and fired. I saw the flash and the Chinaman fall. He immediately returned into the house. It was the same man who fired the shot. that I'saw rush out of the Louse _aftéer the Chinaman. He passed within three feet of ime. fpe, and could not recognize him. VERDICT OF JURY.
