In nédition to this he has employed two men, one to watch in the corridor in the day time, notwithataading they are pretty well corra’led, would attempt almost anything to get their freedom again. Another thing, the Sherff is determined to have the grates pretty well watched to keep outsiders from paceing in any thing whatever. It seems the day workgien challenged the night hands to drift as.much as they . did, in the same ground and same number of hours. They accepted the banter. The day hands commenced and finished drifting, in 10 houre, twenty feet.
