* i oo 38 om? her 7 8 2 SeRSEEG iP & FEE Pi RO: * ° SATURDAY MORNING, OCT. %5. Bap Stace Accipent.—The coach of the Cal. Stage Company, for Lincoln, broke _ about 35 o’clork, while descending the in. cline on the turnpike near Suttor’s milk ranch, between this place and Grass Valley. There were eleven passengers aboard, at the ‘time; A. R. Jenkins and Swauel Hasey were . . sitting on the top with the driver;a Mre. — Evans of Moore’s Flat and three children, Mr. J: 8 MeCue, two other gentlemen ‘and > «aceurred about six inches from the wheel, where the ‘first strap went around the azie. and sidewise at the same time, throwing Hasey, Jenkins and the driver witb violence to the greund, the horses at the same time taking fright and tunving away with the pole and one wheel of the vehicle. Jenkins had the large bone of the left leg broken, the foot badly bruised, and the right &rm broken near the shoulder. Hasey had the left elbow dislocated. The driver was severely stunned, but persisted, on recovering ‘his senses, in, ’ driving on to Lincoln. Of all the persons in, the inside not one was injured. Mr. Hasey tells us the driver wae careful and did his duty, and no blame is to be attributed to him. There was probably a crack in the axle beneath the band, where a bolt went through it, which wae not to be seen. Meésers. H»sey ahd Jenkins were brougt t to town and are now under the surgeon's . ' care, The latter is very seriously injured. Hasey is about and congratulates himself that his injuries are no worse than they are. Occupying the loftiest place of any on the stage, in the rear of Jenkine who sat with the driver, itis a wonter that Hasey was not more seriously hurt. Luckily for all concerned, the stage tipped over towards the hill. Had it gone the. other way the whole load wou'd have been thrown down « bank and probably lives would have been lost. ae At the time of the accident, Mr. Sutton was astir, and seeing that something was wrong with the stage, he came to its nssistance iranofijately with lantern, and ren_ dered good aid in various ways. We understand the Marysville coach was taken to supply the place of the broken one, while the Moore’s Flat stage was used for the Maryaville route. despatch, dated Oct. 23d, trom W. 8 Edwards of North San Juan, who is at Carson City,-stating that te and Sheriff Gasharie would leave that place on that day for Nevada with “Salt Lake,” who had been arrested for robbing John A.
