ordinary infants. Te sufferings of the little
creature were intense, ind ‘eontinued with
but little relief or cessation until its death,
at which time it was emaciated to a shadow:
Uts suffering was caused by certain malformations which were attributable to causes.
brought on by a severe sickness of the child’s
mother for some.weeks before its birth, the
parent traveling upon a rough road and. lying
much of the time in the wagon. “The conaequence of the malformation was that some of
the organs. were almost entirely useless. .
. There was also a great absence of muscular
power in the ehild, which was brought about
by the same cause. A part of the necessury organs of articulatiou were also wanting.
Among other changes, much of the fluid im}bibed by the sufferer was driveii by unnatural process through the skin, and tiis.is said
to have caused its death, the organs thus,
doubly worked becoming worn out and causing a fatal result by consimption. The first’

shown by the other members of the family,
and the poor cripple, notwithstanding many
years of trouble, anxiety, and watching it had

loss was most severely felt. The little thing
was quite ‘intelligent, and evidently appreciated the kindness shown it. One child was
born during the lifetime of the deceased.
