a crinoline dress has been exhibited, one-half

eombustibility. On a light having been. applied to the crinoline, the part which had not
‘been steeped in the solution was at once enveloped inflames, but the only effect which
the light had on the other part was to char,
it. “This was considered a satisfactory experiment, and it was stated that as ammonia
was only 2d. per pound, it was accessible to
thé humblest class. It’ was stated that the
crinoline, used in the royal-establishraont was
steeped in a totally different solution, but that
its Cost prevented its general use, and that the

of Orleans Flat, was-robbed, on-Friday last,
of $3,000, by a young man named Dick
Curtis, who had been inthe employ of Marks
& Co. for a long time, and in whom much
charge of the property while Mr. Marks paid
a visit to San Juan. On his return, Curtis
and the were both missing. It is supposed he made “tracks for the Washoe’ Diggings. The fellow had some conscience, for
he left $15,000 in the safe. Probably he -was
afraid the weight: would. be too » great for’ him.
