BURGLARY LAST NIGHT.
Mike Hanley’s Saloon Entered and
Over $200 Stolen,
Burglars.last night entered the saloon of
Mike Hanley, at the junction of Main and
Commercial streets. They effected. an enwalk in front of the building, which gave
them access to the cellar. From the cellar
it was an easy matter to reach the saloon
trance by prying up a board from the side. !
by the steps and trap—door.
The till was broken open and its, contents,
amounting to between $200 and $300, stolen.
Mr. Hanley! had neglected to deposit the
money, and as it was late when he closed
the saloon he did not like to take it with
him, for fear of being stood up. The burglars are evidently fond of good cigars, as
they also stole two boxes, of 100 each, highgrade cigars, valued at $13 a box, Mr.
Hanley could not tell whether they took
anything else from his stock, but it is very
likely they helped themselves to other
things, The crime was .cotmumitted some
time between 12 o'clock last night and
7 o'clock this morning.
Attempts to rob the place were made
twice before, but eaci time were unsuccessful. The third time was the charm, It is
very evident that the person or persons who

The Game Law.
——
There has been @-qoestion in the minds of
; Many people whether the game-law provisions passed by the recent Legislature would
annul ordinances previously passed by the
Boards of Supervisors regarding the open
aad close season for fish or game, or whether
these ordinances would remain in force.
District Attoruey Riley has been looking
the matter up and is of the upinion that the
new. provisions and changes enacted by the
L'g slatur: render null and void all previou
action which Supervisors ‘may have taken
in the matter. Under.the present law ‘he
open season for trout begins the Ist of May,
whereas the county ordinancé fixes the time
at June Ist. Nevada county fishermen will
therefore have the right to follow the State
law and catch fish on and after the Ist of
