Michael McAuley of Sierra Valley, who is a brother of Daniel McAuley of this city, ia missing from his Sierra Valley home and all trace of him has) been completely lost. : Mr. McAuley came to this city éhe fore part of March to pay hia brother a visit, and after remaining here two or three weeks bid his brother farewell on the 18th day of March and took his departure on the afternoon train for bome. He went by way of Truckee. “Victor Mondo,.a friend of the missthey took the train at Truckee for their home which, to be precise, is Beckwith, situated on the line between Plumas and Sierra counties, and only six miles from Loyalton, Sierra county. ‘They reached their destination without incident, Mr. McAuley going to his house, where he lives all alone and conducts a farm.
nothing had been seen of Mr. McAuley since his arrival home his friends became alarmed and a party of them proceeded to the houce last Saturday to ascertain the cause of his continued absence. Upon arrival the house was found to be deserted and a thorough search of the premises failed to reveal anything of his whereabouts. A pair of shoes, however, which Mr. McAuley had been wearing, were found, and this fact seemed to warrant the belief that the old gentleman, who! is 66 years of age, wandered off, while in a state of mental aberration, in his stocking feet and became lost in one of the numerous bogs or marshes that abound in that part of the country. Searching parties were immediately organized and every effort made to locate the missing man, bat ap to the present time the search has proven This was on the 284 of March, and as fatile. FIRE TODAY.
