The Board of Trustees of the City of Nevada
do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1.
The City of Nevada hereby grants to K.
CASPER, succéssors and
right and privilege to construct a Gas Plant and
operate the same, and manufacture Gas for IlHimination, and sell the same to the inhabitunts of the City of Nevada, and lay dewn
pipes or conduits underground maintain and
operate all the necessary appliances for the
same inthe public streets, alleys and thoroughfares in said City of Nevada.
SECTION 2.
Said pipe or conduits to be laid underzround
in a workmanlike manner as not to interfere
with travel upon said streets.
SECTION. 3.

years from the date of the passage of the same,
and in default or neglect thereof this Franchise
shall be forfeited.

at family rates, 30 cents per inch for 24 hours.
Sec. 54. For irrigating vegetable gardens
when vegetables are sold in market $25 per season.
Sec. 55, Forsprinkling or watering the streets
of Nevada City from the fire plugs or other
openings, $40 per year.
Sec. 56. For flushing sewers of all kinds, $10
per year,
Sec. 57, For City Hall and City Jail, $5 per
yeur. '
Sec. 58. For city trough at the Plaza and
City pound, $20 per year.
‘Sec. 59. For all water used for fire purpose-,
$120 a year.
sec. 60, The Agent of the Water Company
shall have the power in all cases to ascertair
by proper measurement the quantity of water
used and fix the price as provided by sections
51, 52 and 58 of this ordinance.
Sec. 61. All water, except irrigation, and for
city and county purposes, are due and p.syable
weekly, and if not so paid the wateragent may,
in his discretion, upon giving the deiinquent
consumer one week’s written notice to pay up,
shut off the water fromthe premisses of such
consumer
Sec. 6”, Water rates for all city purposes and
for the Court House are due and pipable q uarterly. Irrigate rates are due anu payable in
monthly instaliments of one fifth of the rates
when taking water for the season otherwise to
pay monthly for water used.

Sec. 63. A filst-class hotel is understood to be

class hotels not leas than 40 beds, ~

Sec. 64. A first class livery stable is uiderstood to be a stable containing not less thon 25
horses, Second-class., livery stables not less
than 10 horses,. Third-class livery .stables not
less than 6 horses, and fourth-class livery
stables less than 6 horses.
Sec. 65. Noone except a propeily authoriz.d
agent of the Water Company shall turn on che
water to any place or building without a per
mit from the water agent, provided that any
authorized agent of the city or Fire Department
may turn on the water for city purposes.
_ Sec. 66. For all water used for running mach
inery, 25cents per miner's inch for 24 hours
run, provided that duringthe months of June,
July, August and Sep‘ember of each year when
the Water Company can not obtain moré thau
asufficient supply Gf water'in the pipes for
domestic purposes dnd irrigation, it may refuse
to supply water for the purpose of running machinery and provided further that on the com
plaint of a water consumer that he is unable to
obtain a sufficient supply of water for duniestic
purposes or irrigation, the Board of City Trus
tees may, after investigating the matter «rder
the sale of water for running machinery stop
ped, and it-shal-be stopped after-a—period of
one week from the date of such order.
Sec.67. The Marshal, when requested, shall
accompany the agent of the Water Company for
the purpose of shutting off the water from the
premises of any person who shall bein default
inthe payment of water rates as. provided
in this Ordinan:e.
The Marshal shal: charge and collect from the
Water Company for such service the sum «f $2
for eact time he so accompanies the Water
Agent, the same to be paid by the Marshal into
the City Treasury the same as other funds collected by him.
