WEEP the dark pictures out of your sight; don’t let your troubles, your cares, and your anxieties stand & ‘between you and -Heaven’s sunlight. Look on the bright side of things; and above all, refuse to press your seeming afflictions on others, ach trouble, do not take the moaning to him about it. The world is as full of happiness as it is of sunshine. If you think you have stomjoy out of another's life by If you refuse to take the one with the other, the blame is yours ~and the loss~ is yours. If you are hopeless, ~despondent, . gloomy, complaining, it -will-not-be-long before the effect-of your habits will be seen in those around you. verse of .this is equally true. And the reHow infinitely better it is, when asked in the morning how you are, to reply, “I am well,” and accompany the statement with a smile’ which carries conviction as to its truth, than it is to pull'a long face, and begin at once to enumerate all the real or fancied ills to which mortal flesh is heir, and many of which you think-you-are subject to and oppressed by. ’ Be cheerful, try and be honestly pleased-with your friends, your néighbors, you surroundings, day by day, week by week, and year by year (though the years will take care of themselves, if only you will take care of the hours), and you will be surprised’ how the habit of mind will grow, and show itself in a brighter eye, a quicker step, a-heartier handbach eee oe eee shake, a keener relish of all the good things of life, and the desire to make the best of what is not good in itself. Cultivate the royal side of every man and woman, extake only the silver from the "tract the sweetness” that-is ‘concealed in’ every supposed-itt; black mass of trouble with which you are wont to be opprossed—the old proverb that, “every cloud has a silver lining” is not by any means worn The fact that you may not yet have been able to out yet. get the silver concealed there, is no proof that it does not exist. © é And it may be added that many a miner has abandoned his claim through lack of perseverance and thereby lost what to another was a fortune. The only difference between the work of a miner and the work of him who would extract silver from a dark cloud, is that the miner ever burrows in the earth, while the other must ever climb upward, getting higher and higher into the realm of perpetual happiness and sunshine of soul and sublimity of character. ———*_—7>_———[][][][{[_[—]]]]]]]]]>>—_—_—_—_—_——_—_—_—_—_—_—_—_— A Great Sensation, There was a big sensation in Leesville, Ind., when W. WasHineton, April 17.—In the issuence of a warrant for the surrender to the Mexican Government of Dr. Chas. 8, Harle, now held under arrest at El Paso, Texas, on a charge of being an acceesory to a murder committed in OChibuahua, the State Department yesterday took steps to secure the punishment of a peculiarly atrocious crime which has engaged the attention of the two Governments and one of the big New York life insurance companies for many monthe. The papers filed at the State Department allege that the Mexican agent of the company, T. OC. Robinson; a man named Meredith and P. Dr. Harle conspired to murder a man in order to collect the insurance on his life, the policy for which had been issued by Richardeon. The policy was made out payable to Meredith, The victim was slowly poisoned to deatb, and the dcctor who attended him certified that he died from natural causes. The doctor’s defense ts that he did not himeelf administer the drag. Richardson and Meredith, also arrested in Texas, were discharged by the Court on the ground of insufficient evidence, bat the Mexican Governtnent ‘has sworn eut new charges, and the two men will be re-arrested and beld for extradition. —+-2@e-—— Good Meats. Course south east and north west, and dips north. It can be traced half a mile, until the Gravel Range covers it. It is a strong ledge, which rane from two to five feet on the croppings. There have been three shallow shafts sunk to a depth of 25 or 80 feat. It is thought there is a good pay chute of ete between two of the shafts referred to, as in sinking on the east side of the chaft, but very little gold could be seen, while on the west side gold could be frequently seen. No drifts have been run from either side of the shaft. In the early ’603 ten tons of this ore was milled, that paid in free gold, $8.50 per ton. This. vein, in places csrries a large per cent; of sulphurets. There were no assays made. It is, will prove the best on tha property, when once the pay chute is opened up, as there is aperfect net work of ledges on the property coursing easterly and westerly and north and south. Several acres were worked cut in what is known as the Lone Star Gravel Pit, aad $380,000 was taken out. The bank is from 4 to 120 feet deep, 700 feet, more or less, south east from the Pit. The Hope Tunnel Company drove a tunnel and took out about $15,000. The gravel running from $2.50 to $14 per set of timbers, 4 feet square. The ground-is quite wet overhead and the mine was closed down to be worked by the hydraulic process. ‘This gravel property will, in time, be valuable, and in working will un doubtedly uncover very rich veins of ore that will never otherwise be exposed, The little short ravines coursfog through this property have been very rich.
