Hugh Murchie has more business to . 5!
attend to than. any other one man in
Nevada City. He is Water Collector,
Superintendent of Streets, Superintendent of the Sewer System and
Health Officer. He was appointed to
these offices because the City Trustees
believed he was jast the right kind of
a man to fill the various positions, and
he has proven by his work, that they
did not make a mistake., Today he is
superintending the leveling of some of
the streets, collecting water bills, looking out for connections thut are being
made to the sewer system, interviewing the physicians about contageous
diseases, that he may quarantine the
houses promptly, looking out for leaks
in water pipes, bad sidewalks, etc., etc.
And so it is every day inthe week that
he does the work of three or four men,
and seems to be equal to everything
that turns ap. eee.
