Free Gas
Service for
60 Days Only
Better take advantage of it. One
week has passed already. The 60days
will be gone before you know it and
m you'll kick yourself because you
didn’t take up our offer.
Absolutely Free
That’s our offer. We put in every coanection up to 100 feet, connect up your
gas range and pat it in shape for cooking, and we don’t charge you a cent for
the work, time pipe or material. We
do this for sixty days merely to introduce gas as a summer fuel,
Ranges Sold Below Cost
That is below what others can buy
them for. Because our. company buys
them in carload lots direct from the
. factory. Get inside prices, saves
wholesalers’ com missions.
Come in and talk this over with us,
Remember, gas is the coolest and
most economical fuel in the world for
summer,

A Paradox Explained,
Why does not a man weigh a pound
more immediately after eating a pound
weight of food? A little reflection will
readily explain this apparent mystery.
During the process of -mastication, deglutition, etc., certain muscles are
brought into active play, and the exercise of any muscle necessitates a temporary waste of its tissues, and a certain amount of carbon is eliminated
and passed off during the course of the
meal. This loss, however, is trifling as
compared with that due to respiration
and perspiration, both of which are
increased during the various operations
of making a meal.
The length of time one may take to
consume a pound of food makes but
little difference to those losses, for if it
Js eaten leisurely there is but slight
increase of respiration or perspiration,
whereas if it is hurried through both
are abnormally accelerated. Hence by
the time the pound is eaten the consumer has lost appreciably in moisture
and carbonic acid.
A Remarkable River In Spain.
There is in Spain a’ river called the
Tinto, which bas very extraordinary
qualities. Its waters, which are as
yellow as a topaz, harden the sand and
petrify it in a most surprising manner.
If a stone falls into the river and rests
upon another they both become perfectly united and conglutinated in a
year. It withers all the plants on its
. banks as well as the roots of trees,
which it dyes of the same hue as its
waters. No fish live in its stream.
Envy is not only a great weakness,
but it is a great ignorance too. No
man envies what he can surpass or
equal.
