To be sure we are.to]d. that women are. better than men because they have been kept from politics, Well, if this be true, then why can we not disfranchise the men and see whether that step will make: them ‘any ‘better than they are, As at present situated woman labors under many ” unjust discriminations. Much interest is taken in the case, and the court-room is crowded with spectators, An Important Decision. The firat decision affirming the four years’ term for county officials, has just been rendered by Judge Buckles of Solano, The case will be taken to the Supreme Court, for until the decision of this court of last resort, nothing is permanently settled. The Buckles finding increases the probability that the law is valid, and that sif actually does extend the term of most of the county offices for four years. It is a case of so much public importance that it ought to be advanced on the docket of the Supreme Court, If taken up in regular order, it probably could not be reached in that tribunal until long after the usual time of holding county elections. Suppose the Supreme Court, taking the case up in its regular order, should reverse the Solano decision, sometime next winter? Not a county officer would ; have been elected under the two years’ term, nor would there be any provision for an election for many months therefor, Now, such a result may not occur, but the fact that there is this contingists. 250, gency, would seem to make the case of so much urgency that an early decision ought to be obtained from the Supreme Court. The people voted with the understanding that the term would be four years, Native Sons’ Notice. No, 56, N. 8. G, W., will be held this W. T: Monk, Pres, 2 K. J. Mograan, Sec’y.
